We had a chance to watch the Lynden standout play this summer with her high school squad, the gritty and athletic libero is ready to help the Lions make a big run at state. VanderYacht is a three-sport athlete, a Central Washington commit, and her foot speed makes it hard to land a tip or push a ball to the corner when she is patrolling the back row. She continues to assert herself as a leader on the floor, cutting off kill attempts when she has the angle and calling off teammates to take charge of the defense.

The 2024 class at Lynden is loaded, with VanderYacht contributing in big way’s defensively. The team also sports setter Grace Rice Grace Rice 5'8" | S Lynden | 2024 State WA and Ashley Shumate Ashley Shumate 6'3" | OH Lynden | 2024 State WA on the outside, but VanderYacht is all over the court to save points from her libero spot. She was taking a big portion of the court in serve receive, and her bright yellow libero jersey seemed to work as a warning sign for opponents to serve someone else. When she did see a serve VanderYacht delivered on target and with nice tempo.

Consistent in serve receive and passing with good tempo, VanderYacht sets up many of the high powered attacks for her Lynden team. Passing a free ball or medium pace attack accurately and with good tempo is an underrated skill, and she puts the pass on the money to setter Grace Rice. Her energy was on full display at the state tournament, she does a wonderful job leading the defense for the Lions.
