Hicks and her TAV 15 Black Jason team will compete in the 15 Open division this weekend in Florida. Splitting time with Evann Beville Evann Beville 5'7" | S/DS/L Prestonwood Christian Academy - Plano | 2028 State TX at the setter position, she has been one of the reasons for their strong season so far. A playmaker with fantastic technique, Hicks has an extremely clean touch on the ball and it’s not rare to see it get to the pin without a single spin after it comes out of her hands. She’s very accurate too and makes excellent decisions with her distribution, keeping all her hitters as much involved as possible. The setter also has great athleticism, which helps her tremendously when she has to deal with tight passes at the net and when playing defense.

Hicks was one of the setters that helped TAV 15 Black Jason end the tournament in first place, with seven wins and two losses. I got to watch them in their opening match, a 2-0 loss to Houston Skyline 15 Royal, and despite the upset, she was one of the best players on the court. Hicks’ stability means a lot to TAV as the team’s big and physical hitters need a consistent setting to thrive, which is exactly what she delivers. Hicks is very technical and can execute difficult sets with passes off the net thanks to her great movement. She also displayed great ball control and reflexes when playing defense and was a huge asset on the backcourt too.
