About Paydence

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as different but in the best way possible. Some of my choices might not make sense to other people but I try my best to run a unique offense. I say my favorite thing to do is reverse the flow to throw off the blockers on the other side. Even when the play is in-system I like to change it up a little bit and keep the defense guessing.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality on the court is that leadership is an attitude not a title. I try to be an encouraging person to my teammates and hype them up as best as I can. I am one of the biggest competitors ever and I will try my hardest every single play.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I feel like over the years I have developed leadership and grit. Sometimes things do not go as I plan but I learned that taking it out on the team does nothing for me or my teammates. Even if they make a mistake I tell them to shake it off because volleyball is a very mental sport. I also try to have that mentality for myself.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Compared to most of my peers, I started competing in volleyball late. After COVID and without any previous training, I made my 6th grade JV team in March 2021 and by June 2022, I was competing on a national stage with the Vegas United 14s team. Being behind by others players, I always observe the players who are the best at what they do and make it my goal to catch up to their level.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college to play volleyball and is close to home or where my family is. I also want it to be something I want to major in which is kinesiology.
