About Rylie
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I’d describe my gameplay style as high-energy, versatile, and competitive. I’m a six-rotation outside who loves being involved in every part of the game: passing, defending, and swinging big in all moments. I stay confident under pressure, use my volleyball IQ to make smart plays, and work hard to be someone my teammates can count on every point.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I am driven and focused on constant growth. I love challenges and always look for ways to push myself, whether it’s extra reps, working out or watching film. I’m competitive but very team-first, and I try to lead through positivity and hard work. Coming from a strong volleyball family, I take pride in my preparation and improving every day. I love to have fun and Volleyball is fun!
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I currently am not involved in any clubs as I am in a sports family who travels for baseball tourneys, and I live in Arizona and play High School in Arizona, but I play club for ACTYVE which is located in California where I grew up the first 10 years of my life. Time is valuable to balance my sports, family and social life.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I have been playing club since I was 7 years old and I also competed on a travel soccer team. Growing up with my family including extended family it is . I have learned how to compete and lead at a high level. My parents put me in situations that forced me to learn and grow, it was hard then but has paid off now. I do community service with my teams, and it is so fun and rewarding.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Biggest challenge right now is playing club in California while living in Arizona. It’s pushed me a lot, but it’s also helped me learn how to manage travel, academics, and taking care of my body. Another challenge has been working my way up when I didn’t start out as the best. I like chasing the players ahead of me and eventually passing them. Each stage of my development has brought new challenge
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m looking for a school that is competitive and has a strong culture, or is building one. I want to be somewhere that values me and believes in what I can bring to the program. Academics matter to me, and even though I’m undecided on my career path, I’m excited and grateful for the chance to compete at the highest level I can.
