Sommer Shaw Sommer Shaw 5'11" | MB Marist | 2028 IL will be one of the top middles to watch in the Illinois Class of 2028. She has been key in the success of 1st Alliance 16 Gold this 2026 season. I was able to see her first at Triple Crown where I was most impressed with her blocking. Before she gets above the net, she gets her feet set and is under control. I don’t see her getting tooled, she knows how to lockdown the opposing attackers. Offensively, she is highly efficient, she knows how to use her offspeed as well as finding the deep corners.

Game changer. Sommer playing with 1st Alliance 16 Gold, she will have all the opportunity to affect the game and be as impactful as she wants and needs to be. Sommer’s ability to read the setter and/or follow her assignment at any tempo, and to react at a high rate, is impressive. Her blocking is a skill she will teach one day, but for now, she will play. She looks forward to the college she wants to attend. Her combination of athleticism and long reach gives her explosiveness an extra boost. Not taking away from her offensive game, which is a problem for the opposition as well.
