Sophia impressed me with her setting at Junior Nationals. The ball floated cleanly when it left off her hands. She also showed the ability to set the quick tempo sets. The one down size is her 5’6″ height, which will restrict her to a 6/2.

In the serving area she is top notch finishing first in aces. The alternate setter Raegan Giuliani Raegan Giuliani 5'10" | S/RS The Potomac School | 2029 State VA is also a sophomore this year.

Coming into this tournament I was not that familiar with Sophia Grimm Sophia Grimm 5'6" | S/DS/L The Potomac School | 2027 State VA . She shares a 6/2 with Annabelle Kim Annabelle Kim 5'7" | S Heritage | 2027 State VA for Virginia Elite. Both carry approach jumps of less than 9 feet so front row is not an ideal position for either.

One skill that impressed me with Sophia is how clean the ball came off her hands when she set. While that does not matter in this world of no doubles the ball still travels in a juicy position for the hitter to pounce on the ball. She also shows good timing for the quick tempo sets. Don’t be surprised to see her make her debut in the rankings at this late stage.
