Johnson plays high school volleyball for the strong Ridge Point program and club for the Houston Skyline 16 Royal team – she ranks ninth among the middles and 55th overall in her class. Her length is what causes the biggest impression about her game, but another key to her strong performance is her incredible mobility. Johnson is an interesting offensive option with her ability to get off the floor well and her quick right arm and she also makes an impact with her blocking, reading the game well and reacting to it.

The Panthers also entered the season with questions to be answered in the middle after Arissa Smith graduated, but Johnson seems to have become a starter right at the start of the season. She was very strong during the club season and becomes more and effective as she continues to learn how to best use her incredible athleticism. Johnson is very long, gets off the floor well and has a quick arm on offense. Her reading of the game has also improved and with that her blocking has gotten better, especially because her timing is better now.
