The setter, who transferred from Jordan this season, was Fulshear’s most consistent player throughout the match. She thrived in her dual role with the team, running the Chargers’ offense with intelligence. James did a good job in accelerating the game when working with free balls and made good decisions with her ball distribution. She was also very effective offensively, changing rhythms extremely well. James also scored in big moments with setter dumps, blocks and aces.
The Chargers’ top scorer had an excellent offensive performance, displaying impressive variation on her shots. Her physicality is truly impressive and at times there was really nothing Brenham’s blockers and defenders could do to stop her. Warren has some ups and downs during the match, but found her game on the fourth set and pulled off an ace in a key moment. She also had some difficulties with her passing in a few moments.
Fulshear’s star libero was consistent for the most part of the match. Her passing was extremely reliable and Black also generated quite a few transition opportunities with her great defense. She did a great job in leading the team backcourt and showed good hustle to recover balls. Black had back-to-back aces in a key moment on the third set, but her level of play dropped a little bit on the fourth set.
Originally a setter, Crowson had to wear a lot of different hats to help the team because of Bentke’s absence. She did a very good job with her distribution, using all of her hitters, and also scored a lot of points of her own with her well-diversified offense. Crowson also had good moments when playing defense and with her serving and she led the team’s comeback to win the third set.
Brenham’s starting libero was the team’s most consistent player over the course of the match. Her passing was excellent from start to finish and she also made some digs to help the team’s defense. Kuehn also did well when she had to set in transition and had a couple of good serving runs. She switched to defensive specialist after the second set.
