The Davis sophomore put the team on her back this season, and showed she can play defense as a 6 rotation middle. She works hard on the court, and is quicker than most middles she faces. In her last match of the season she went off with 18 kills against North Creek on 31 swings, throwing in 2 blocks and 2 aces for good measure. Super active and quick, she hammered balls off the block, dropped in soft tips right over the top of blockers and racked up over 40 blocks on the season. Durgan is powerful offensively, especially on quick tempo sets. She has a hard approach and a fast arm, she moves quickly on the court and her suddenness surprises the opposing blockers. You can't teach her length, but Marrs works hard at her craft and continues to improve an all around player. Offensively she takes an aggressive, hard approach and rips the ball to either corner. During the club season she worked hard on running the slide and running quicks with her Sudden Impact setters. If that is the case it's unfortunate for volleyball fans. That means your best chance to see the Colfax middle operate is making your way to the Palouse or waiting to see the Bulldogs at the state tournament next fall. When I watched McGaughey against the best teams in 2B, and against larger schools at the Linda Sheridan Classic, she could not be stopped. She is long, coordinated, jumps out of the gym and does not move or swing like a volleyball player who has mainly focused on basketball. She finished with 20 kills in the state semi-final and posted another 20 in the final, before La Connor and CWU commit [player_tooltip player_id='221452' first='Ellie' last='Marble'] won the match 3-1. <p>2022 was an excellent year for prep volleyball in Washington, a full club season was completed, and a much needed, quick break for the athletes and parents happened before the high school season started.
