We’ve already covered outside hitters and middle blockers in this pre-club season breakout series. As we shift our focus to setters, we’re going to see plenty more names that could make a big splash when the 2023 season gets rolling.
LaSure can do a little bit of everything on the volleyball court. Last fall, she was a reliable middle-back defender for a Bennington team that broke through to the tournament. We might get to see LaSure pilot the Nebraska Elite 17-2 offense on the club side, though, which is a testament to her versatility.
Moore is making the move to Nebraska ONE 17 Black this spring, and I’m excited to see how she performs with a great group of other Lincoln-area standouts. This Waverly athlete has experience as a defensive specialist and a right-side hitter, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Moore in some roles other than setter for Nebraska ONE.

We’ve talked about Kopocis’s recent success on the high school side, and now we get to put those accomplishments into a club context. After contributing to DC West’s historic appearance in last fall’s state championships, Kopocis can now bring some of that high-level experience to Club Legacy 17 Bravo.
Campie has made a name for herself ever since she arrived at Omaha Marian as a freshman. Now, she has a chance to keep elevating her Premier 16 Gold squad as they chase redemption and another chance at an Open bid this season. That’s plenty of motivation for Campie to have a huge club season.
While, we’re discussing Campie, we might as well bring 16 Gold’s other primary setter in the mix. Solomon brings a unique skill set as a fluid, consistent setter as well as an ability to attack in the frontcourt. Whatever role we see from Solomon this spring, she’s bound to have a huge influence on Premier’s GJNC aspirations.
Potthoff may be the next setter to lead the Gretna offense in 2023. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, however, this 2025 athlete has a chance to become a standout with Premier 16 Black during club competition. We’ll learn a lot about the 16 Black roster early in the season, and Potthoff is definitely one to watch here.

Speaking of Class A setters, Ringenberg stepped into the Elkhorn South lineup last fall and had some huge shoes to fill. She did so admirably, and now she’s back in the Nebraska Elite gym with the club’s 16 Maverick squad. That’s another big step up that Ringenberg will likely take advantage of.

South Central gets a shoutout in our final entry of this feature. Feeney is another small-town setter who saw some big-time volleyball last fall, as she helped Adams Central make yet another trip to Lincoln for postseason play. I’m excited to see this 2025 stock riser get another leadership opportunity on the club side.
