Zumbrota-Mazeppa’s Ella Chandler Ella Chandler 5’11” | OH Zumbrota-Mazeppa | 2025 State MN performed well in her team’s 2-1 loss to Farmington, 25-15, 21-25, 7-15.
Chandler posted 10 kills, four digs, a block, and a service ace. The junior middle hitter displayed excellent reach and power on kill attempts against the Tigers.
She hits well from both sidelines, and she uses her athleticism well with her 102-inch jump, 114-inch approach jump, and 88-inch reach. Chandler also moves well and attacks the ball quickly.
In the rest of Zumbrota-Mazeppa’s tournament games, Chandlers posted eight kills against Minneapolis Southwest, six kills against Winona, and 11 kills against Centennial. The Cougars won all three of those matches.
Champlin Park’s Carly Gilk Carly Gilk 6’2″ | RS Champlin Park | 2025 State #27 Nation MN had a big showing at the at the Lakeville North Bachman Invite.
Gilk helped the Rebels go 4-1 in tournament action with wins over Marshall, Eagan, Caledonia, and Prior Lake. The Rebels’ only loss came against East Ridge, 2-1.
She posted her highest kill total of the weekend, 15, against Eagan in a 2-0 sweep. Gilk also had 13 kills against East Ridge, 12 kills against Marshall, 11 kills against Prior Lake, and 10 kills against Caledonia.
The 6-foot-2 junior has a tremendous jump on the attack, and she fires the ball with power on her kill attempts. Gilk makes effective use of her athleticism and size as a force around the net.

Reese Axness Reese Axness 5’9″ | S Champlin Park | 2025 State MN performed well for Champlin Park at the Lakeville North Backman Invite.
Axness posted 30 set assists in a loss to East Ridge, and she posted 23 or more set assists in wins against Marshall, Eagan, and Caledonia. She also had 21 set assists against Prior Lake. Defensively, Axness posted five digs in three of the Rebels’ five matches, and she had two blocks along the way.
Against Marshall, Axness showed excellent flexibility and scrappiness as she went for digs. She uses her height, 5-foot-11, and her length well in reaching for the ball.
Megan Lund Megan Lund 5’5″ | S Rochester Century | 2024 State MN stepped up for Rochester Century against a No. 2-ranked Lakeville North squad in 2-0 loss at the Bachman Invite.
Lund posted 17 set assists, and she added five digs in the loss. She has 265 digs for the season, and she’s closing in on a 1,000 career digs. She has 944 digs for her career at the moment. For set assists, Lund has 513 this season and 2,717 for her career.
The 5-foot-7 senior moves well on the court, and she’s quick to the ball. Lund can also cause trouble around the net with her blocking ability, and she is good on the attack.
Elena Hoecke Elena Hoecke 6’3″ | MB Centennial | 2026 State MN stepped up for Centennial in a 2-1 win over Stewartville, 19-25, 25-18, 15-7.
Hoecke posted eight kills, three service aces, a block, and seven digs. The 6-foot-3 sophomore middle hitter has a strong season going with 219 kills, 23 service aces, 60 total blocks, and 137 digs.
If Hoecke’s height isn’t enough, her excellent approach jump only adds to her prowess on the attack. Hoecke uses her length and power to drive the ball, making it all the more difficult for opponents to stop her.
