Continue ReadingIt was quite the morning at the Courts in Beaverton on Sunday, November 19th. With over 80 athletes from Oregon and Washington gathering to compete, it was a fast-paced and high-energy-filled gym.
Here are the setters from the class of 2026 that caught our eye at the 2023 Oregon Top 250 Expo.
Fox, a 5’7” setter from Forest Grove, flexed her athleticism at the Top 250 Expo. When setting, she was disciplined about getting her feet to the ball and her hands under it to get it to a hitter. Her placement and location consistently improved significantly from our last showcase, too! Although undersized, what she lacks in height, she makes up for in her leaping abilities. A leftie, she shines on the right side. With a fast arm swing and high vertical jump, she created tons of point-scoring opportunities for herself during gameplay. Fox proved she could play all around, whether running a 5-1 or attacking across the front row on Sunday.
Highlights
Orizotti, a 5’9” setter from South Salem, flexed her stellar setting skills at the Top 250 Expo. With a high contact point and natural hand strength, she hides her set choice well, not exhibiting many tells, with excellent posture on contact. She does an exceptional job managing to get her hands on most everything. Her placement and location consistency is continuing to improve each time I see her play. Playing for Athena 18-1 this season, she will have the opportunity to be challenged playing against older athletes and is sure to make some major improvements to her game.
Perry is a 5’4” setter from Westside Christian High School. She was incredibly consistent with location during positional drills. She displayed a clean and quick release with her hands. Also, with good strength, she showcased the ability to push the ball to the outside when forced to the right side of the court. Perry was offensive during scrimmages, with good court vision to dump the ball over on two.
