The state tournament, Prep Dig showcases, and the new club season in full tilt have brought some exciting athletes onto our radar. The following athletes have broken into the rankings this winter so let’s give them a warm welcome (since it’s getting so cold out).
Reeder burst onto the prep scene this fall and stole the show as Anoka made their deep post season run. It was no surprise to anyone that she earned herself a spot on the Class AAAA All State Tournament Team. She has the length, the athleticism and the power which makes her a great addition to the MN Select squad this season. This is definitely a player that needs to be on your radar.

I was really excited to see Thein in action at the Class A/AA Showcase this past fall. She has a lot of length and does a great job of getting off the ground quick and having her arms up and ready. Thein will be a staple for Maccray .

Gillingham is new to the rankings but not to our radar. She was flying under the radar a bit because she plays for Kairos out of Sioux Falls so it took us a bit longer to connect the dots (Thanks for the help, Wade!) I got to see her live at the X in November and then again at the Prep Dig Top 250 in December. Gillingham was breaking records this season including etching her name in the record book as 4th all time season assists after recording 1,128 assists for Marshall in 2023.

Beckering jumped onto my radar at the X in November when she helped the Stars to a deep postseason run. She showed off some fire power as she blasted through the opposing block. Beckering also did a really good job at swinging hard angle and knowing how to work around the block in front of her.

I was really excited when I saw Drake play at the X because she plays with no fear. She goes up and takes a hefty rip on the ball and plays with a level of grit that not many can muster. Drake is very aggressive at the net and in general I just really love her style of play.
