We’ve added so many athletes to our database over the past few weeks, and every class has received a rankings refresh. We just have the 2027s left to cover. This will be a journey.
The player count in our watch list has nearly doubled after this latest update. That leaves us with over 40 athletes to introduce in the new additions series, but we’re ready for the challenge.
It begins here.
Not many Nebraska freshmen kept pace with Thiele’s electric scoring last fall. Bishop Neumann’s star freshman burst onto the scene with over 350 total kills, or nearly four per set to lead the Cavaliers. We know all about Bishop Neumann’s storied history of high-volume scorers, but these numbers from a first-year player are still shocking. Thiele is just getting started.
The 2023 state tournament had its share of talented underclassman defenders. Filipi carried that niche in her first year with Meridian, a program that is starting to string together some postseason appearances. This backcourt specialist put up over three digs per set in a DS role and could see the constrasting jersey in the near future.
Look out for Gering’s freshman class. John finished near the top of the 2027 leaderboards with 3.6 kills per set and an even loftier total on the defensive end. Her length and physicality were often enough to overpower opposing defenses, but John also showed some savvy shots that you wouldn’t expect from a first-year prep player. Big career totals are in her future.
