I have so many notes from this weekend and later found my tweets weren’t going out so we will have plenty of content coming. We saw so many gritty athletes this weekend that made the plays that would light a fire for their teams. These are my favorite players because you know they are likely analytical and will eat, sleep, and breath all the details of each play. They know how to dig deep but wants even more important is knowing it’s all about the process.
Meitzler is so fun to watch when there is a tight pass because she does such a great job of using one hand and making it an attackable ball. She does a great job of moving the ball from pin to pin with ease. Meitzler can be moving backwards past the right pin and still get the ball all the way to the left pin.
LaPlante is lethal from anywhere on the court. She is quick and I love her high snap for the deep cross corner shot. LaPlante is so crafty and smart with her shot selection, you just never know what she is going to do next.
Highlights
Smith has a whip of an arm but on defense she reads the attacker and gets a tip the trickles over the block right to her setter. She is speedy and smart. Smith is a pack of dynamite with a ton of explosive power that makes her a blast to watch.

Decker does a great job at serving the deep seams and freezing the opposing passers. She is smart and strategic with her attacking and she makes sure she is always available as an attacker out of the backrow as well. I really like her reading on defense and the movement she makes to the ball.
Liv can compete at the net and it’s been so fun to see her grow as a player over the years. Her arm is up early and when she takes a fast swing on the ball there is no stopping it. She does a great job of finding a way around the block.
Nerison is a setter who is tough to beat on defense. She reads the play, gets tons of touches and does not give uo on the pursuit of the ball. Which is good because she showed off her ability to chase down some passes in their semifinal with Sky High and she gave her hitters some really nice hittable balls even in a scramble.
She’s competed in some of the biggest matches of a high school prep career and keeps a smile on her face. Kharitou isn’t afraid to start a match with an aggressive serve resulting in an ace. I love watching her make huge defensive plays and then show off her athleticism while finding a way to set up her attackers. Kharitou has mastered going against the flow.
Nelson is a workhorse and she never quits on the ball. I saw her bringing balls back out of the net and running across the court to keep a ball in play. You can tell her setters are not afraid to set her when they are out of system because they know she will find a way to better the ball. What’s even better is she can play 6 rotations and made some great middle back plays.
When Farrugia connects with her setter watch out. She has a lightning fast armswing and can put a dent in the floor. When she gets a big kill it fuels her team and they all feed off of her energy.

When Solik-Fifarek got cooking and found a way to beat the block with a fast tempo she was the terminator. She is fundamentally sound and learns on that to make the difficult plays look effortless. Solik-Fifarek just has a way of finding a way to make things work with her jumping ability and solid contact on the ball she can execute any shot she’d like.
