Iowa City Liberty vs. Pleasant Valley

These teams have some familiarity with each other playing in big postseason matches that usually end with someone winning a trophy. Iowa City Liberty was a young squad last year where freshmen saw significant playing time. They are returning and ready to continue their impact with the top libero in the Class of 2027 in [player_tooltip player_id='316419' first='Edie' last='Miller'], her twin sister who can set and swing in [player_tooltip player_id='316380' first='Hadley' last='Miller'], and an electric outside hitter in [player_tooltip player_id='273001' first='Ellie' last='Wilson']. The one who really gets everyone rolling is St. Cloud State commit [player_tooltip player_id='215429' first='Asta' last='Hildebrand']. What a dynamic athlete who was the setter on the 2022 state championship squad for Liberty. Pleasant Valley is returning almost everyone from their final four appearance in Class 5A in 2023. They have plenty of power at the pins with the likes of [player_tooltip player_id='243182' first='Isabelle' last='Kremer'], [player_tooltip player_id='261085' first='Maren' last='Ouellette'], and [player_tooltip player_id='490015' first='Mazie' last='Sweers']. They will also have UMKC commit [player_tooltip player_id='508627' first='Stella' last='Smith'] out of the middle who is always a force to be reckoned with. This is a dynamite way to start the event.

Union vs. Iowa City Regina

Union is always a perennial power where they find a way to make it to the final eight of their class. They have plenty of state tournament experience. They will return setter [player_tooltip player_id='508642' first='Avery' last='Knoop'] who was one of the top assist leaders in the state while leading her team to a final four appearance in Class 3A. Iowa City Regina features one of the top outside hitters in the Class of 2026 in [player_tooltip player_id='261094' first='Reese' last='Naeve'] who made her verbal to Iowa State earlier this spring. She is an electric athlete where she can pack a punch on her swing and can score points from anywhere. Another athlete to keep tabs on for Regina is [player_tooltip player_id='403543' first='Addie' last='Bollier'] who is a top tier libero from the Class of 2027. These teams will have big dreams to play in some pivotal matches the last week of October.

Clear Creek-Amana vs. Assumption

CCA had a historic season with a runner up finish in Class 4A while Assumption won the state title in 2022 and were in the final four of 2023 in Class 3A. The Clippers will be without their top middle blocker in Bliss Beck who will be starting her career at Drake University, but return a strong core of athletes with plenty of state tournament success not only in volleyball, but won a state basketball title earlier this year. [player_tooltip player_id='243457' first='Emily' last='Henderson'] is back at the setter position while she also had over 100 kills. [player_tooltip player_id='361168' first='Averie' last='Lower'] is one of the top all around athletes in the Class of 2026 where she is a high level basketball prospect. She had nearly 300 kills as an outside hitter. Assumption will have Kansas State commit, [player_tooltip player_id='230661' first='Ellah' last='Derrer'] in the middle who is the top middle out of the Class of 2026. She makes a great combo with setter [player_tooltip player_id='215761' first='Ellie' last='Schubert'] who has been the QB1 at setter her entire Assumption career.

Mid-Prairie vs. Cedar Rapids Kennedy

Mid-Prairie has been on the rise the past few seasons, advancing to the regional final and they will be looking to advance one more level to the state tournament. They have [player_tooltip player_id='215395' first='Dakota' last='Mitchell'] who is one of the top liberos in the Iowa Class of 2025 and was part of the Adrenaline 17 Ben squad who won the 17 National Division at USAV in Vegas this summer. She is headed to North Texas. Cedar Rapids Kennedy is under the direction of new coach Doug Palmer who has had big success coaching at Adrenaline out of Cedar Rapids. They will have a big time point scoring outside in Ady Hermanson who has put together a very successful high school and club career.
