Houston HS Previews: 6A – District 22 – Five Players to Watch

An athletic and skilled pin hitter, she gets very involved with her team's play and contributes on both sides of the ball with great efficiency. McFarland jumps well and uses her length even better to make contact with the ball at a high point and beat the blockers standing in her way. She has a good variety of shots in her arsenal and picks well from them, making very few errors and scoring with efficiency. A middle with excellent length and strong technical foundations, she was the team's offensive focal point last year and will play the same role again this season. Langellier's game is extremely well-developed as she can hit several different sets in the middle with tremendous efficiency, making things difficult for opposing blockers. She's been hitting from the left and the right too to add another level to her offense. Massie has been playing with the best for some years at the club level and has developed into one of the most talented and productive setters in the Houston area. Her playmaking skills are excellent and she knows how to make the most of her offensive options, pushing the right buttons in big-time moments. Her presence at the net makes the team much stronger as she is able to impact the flow of the game both ways with her physical game. Rugley first emerged as an elite blocker and continues to perform as so, moving with great quickness at the net and being aggressive with her arms when it comes to taking up space from opposing hitters. A very explosive lefty, she is an offensive force for the team, using her athleticism and quick arm to score with great efficiency from the right. Brown has the power to score in any situation, but uses her vision to scan the court across the net and pick the best option to put the ball down. Because of her length and excellent timing, the right side hitter also makes an impact with her blocking.
