People knew these two teams were loaded entering the season, so it was no surprise that a great crowd came to watch the battle of undefeated teams in a key Girls Greater Catholic League showdown.

Both teams tried a number of creative ways to put balls down, but in the end, the St. Ursula Bulldogs (6-0 overall, 2-0 GGCL) controlled the net better on the way to the 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-16) win. In particular, [player_tooltip player_id='176096' first='Molly' last='Creech'], [player_tooltip player_id='152055' first='Nia' last='Jones'] and [player_tooltip player_id='227797' first='Gabby' last='Semona'] led the way there landing big blocks and kills for the Bulldogs.

The Saints (9-1, 2-1) tried to hit away from junior libero [player_tooltip player_id='204230' first='Emma' last='Frietch'], but ultimately had to angle balls away from blocks toward her and she responded well. That set things up for setter [player_tooltip player_id='152344' first='Emsley' last='Venard'] to put the hitters in position to succeed. The Bulldogs saw a number of others contribute in the win.

[player_tooltip player_id='152052' first='Sakura' last='Codling'], [player_tooltip player_id='152060' first='Sydney' last='Crowley'] and [player_tooltip player_id='403526' first='Grace' last='Jones'] dove after balls like crazy on the Seton side trying to pass the ball to the setters. [player_tooltip player_id='227615' first='Callie' last='Combs'] had some solid swings for the Saints along with [player_tooltip player_id='152054' first='Daisy' last='Cluxton'] and [player_tooltip player_id='379749' first='Nattie' last='Slusher']. They just could not put enough balls down.

The first game stayed tight until the end. Tied at 18, the Bulldogs finished with a nice run that saw Creech take over landing four kills. Venard then finished it with an ace.

The Saints tried to tie things up at a game a piece in the second set. They led the majority of it. Codling had a nice reactive dig that landed on the other side for a kill to put the Saints up 17-13.

However, the Bulldogs rallied. They called timeout after a Slusher ace down 21-18. Tied at 23, Seton hit one out before Creech landed a kill to give the Bulldogs the game and momentum into the third game.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-1 lead and did not relinquish it. The lead ballooned to nine points twice before [player_tooltip player_id='152055' first='Nia' last='Jones'] and Lauren Dorger finished the game with kills.

Frietch (pictured) was as smooth digging up balls as area coaches say she is. Frietch constantly dives all over the place to dig up passes. She then squares up passes to start the St. Ursula attack. Her serving also played a big role in the Bulldog win.

Creech was unbelievable in this win. She landed kill after kill from the strong left side smoking balls to the floor. She can hit off blockers for big points. Creech has great form and timing on her blocks. She can even hit from the back row if necessary.

Semona uses her size well to control the net. She made things really difficult on the Seton hitters with the timing on her jumps. Then offensively, the Bulldog setters know they can count on her to make things happen in the middle.
