The [program_tooltip program_id='430852' first='Tri-State' last='Elite'] 16 teams feature a number of players that made big impacts on their teams this year and others who hope to continue to develop and do that this year after playing behind talented upperclassmen.

16 Blue

Things start with solid passes and this team will have a solid start with Fenwick libero [player_tooltip player_id='725304' first='Emme' last='Moser'] and Ryle defensive specialist [player_tooltip player_id='334217' first='Francesca' last='Hansel']. Moser helped Fenwick to a Division V state runner-up finish in Ohio.

The setter will be Seton sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='582224' first='Penelope' last='Reisman'], who saw limited action on varsity this past year and she'll be joined by fellow Seton teammates [player_tooltip player_id='480837' first='Charley' last='Moeddel'] at middle blocker and outside hitter Makenna Miebers. Moeddel, nicknamed Chuck, worked her way into the rotation and helped the Saints win their first state championship since 2005.

The team has a lot of firepower starting with Ursuline sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='434971' first='Jillian' last='Forrest'] and Beechwood sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='456263' first='Rachel' last='Lewandowski'] at middle blocker/opposite hitters. St. Ursula's Maisie Jones and Jennings County's Aylah Belding hope to give the team plenty of swings at outside hitter.

16 White

The two big names that stand out on this team are Harrison sophomore Kenna Farris and Walnut Hills sophomore middle/outside hitter Hope Vernon. Farris served as the primary setter for Harrison and finished second in the Southwest Ohio Conference with 494 assists. Farris will set alone with Notre Dame's [player_tooltip player_id='798218' first='Ellie' last='Osterkamp'] and hit from the outside.

Seton sophomore Meredith Hughes and St. Ursula sophomore Poppy McPeek will be the defensive specialists. Summit Country Day sophomore Allie Shaw will play middle and outside and Mount Notre Dame junior Pyper Russel also hopes to give the team a big option in the middle. Three sophomore outsides are Mount Notre Dame's [player_tooltip player_id='560929' first='Dylan' last='Kozma'], Seton's Josie Seger and McNick's [player_tooltip player_id='435359' first='Kennedy' last='Haucke'].

16 Gray

This group is figuring out ways to adjust to faster speeds of games among other things, but it is often not a surprise to see players emerge from this team.

Madeira sophomore Claire Lutes made an impact at defensive specialist in the fall. Lutes hopes to do that for this team as an outside hitter. The other outside hitters on the team are Beechwood sophomores Kate Harris, [player_tooltip player_id='476283' first='Emma' last='Stewart'] and Notre Dame sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='484449' first='Jillian' last='Collins'].

Sycamore sophomore Lainey Tilton, Mount Notre Dame sophomore Camden Reisert and Notre Dame sophomore Emma Miller will be the defensive specialists. Badin sophomore Avery Menke is the setter Mercy McAuley sophomore Sydney Bouldin, McNicholas sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='621296' first='Cara' last='Radtke'] and St. Ursula sophomore Madison Stoneking hitting middle and outside.

All three teams play in the Mideast Power League in Louisville on Jan. 4 and 5.

Moeddel gave an additional weapon at the net to the already deep Saints and played a big role helping them to the state's largest Division I state championship. Nicknamed Chuck, Moeddel has learned to use her size well. Moeddel sends short sets from the middle and creases to different parts of the court rising over blockers. Moeddel is also not afraid to take things off hits to land balls in open parts of the court. Moeddel turned into a solid blocker for Seton this year as well. Moeddel finished with 137 kills including nine in the state championship game to go with a team-high 54 blocks.

Forrest has the size and talent to be a solid hitter for the tradition-rich Lions these next two years. Forrest takes advantage of her size to dominate the net offensively and defensively. Forrest takes balls on slides and short sets then deposits them to various parts of the court. Forrest also does a great job timing opponents at the net to land big blocks. Forrest finished second in the GGCL with 92 blocks this past season to go with 195 kills, helping the Lions to a tie for the GGCL crown and a Division III state runner-up finish.

Vernon gives the Eagles hope for progress with two years left. Vernon does a good job taking back sets and slamming balls to the right sidelines. Vernon is also a good passer for Walnut Hills. Vernon led Walnut Hills with 119 kills and had 157 digs.

Lutes played a good bit of defensive specialist for Madeira this past fall, but will mainly hit outside for club. She squares her arms up well for passes and moves forward quick on soft shots. Lutes had 132 digs for Madeira this past fall.
