2028 Voices at the CPA All Star Event

On Sunday, May 18, 2025, a select group of standout athletes gathered at El Camino College in Torrance, California for the prestigious All Star Event hosted by respected volleyball coach Chris Austin. This invite-only showcase featured some of the top high school players in the country, including setters, hitters, and liberos, and offered a unique opportunity to compete, connect, and grow in a high-performance environment.   The event unfolded in three waves throughout the day, giving each athlete the chance to showcase their abilities through advanced drills, competitive play, and targeted instruction. While skill was certainly on display, the event also emphasized development and mindset, bringing together athletes from across the country who were eager to take their training to the next level.   Five members of the Class of 2028 shared what the experience meant to them, how Chris Austin's coaching has helped elevate their game, and what college coaches should know about who they are, on and off the court.    [player_tooltip player_id='496933' first='Sade' last='Devine'], a 2028 libero from Brentwood and Actyve 15 Adidas, saw her invitation to the Championship Performance Advantage All Star Event as motivation to keep pushing her limits. She appreciated the chance to train with a high-level group and hopes to continue her development this summer at Libero College. Coach Chris Austin left a strong impression on her with his unique coaching style, mindset-focused approach, and encouragement across all positions. His support, even including a book he wrote, has helped her grow both mentally and technically.   Despite coming off a long tournament weekend, Sade rose to the occasion, proving her endurance and love for competition. She hopes college coaches notice her focus, speed, grit, and calm presence under pressure. She prides herself on staying composed while supporting her teammates, and she brings strong energy throughout every match. Off the court, Sade is down to earth, committed to her academics, and passionate about animals, music, swimming, and travel. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     [player_tooltip player_id='550009' first='Lana' last='Frelix'], a 2028 opposite from Windward School and Actyve 16 Navy, was grateful for the opportunity to train and compete alongside top talent at the Championship Performance Advantage All Star Event. Under the guidance of Coach Chris Austin, she gained a more strategic understanding of the game, learning how to disrupt defenses through smart shot placement rather than relying solely on power.   Lana embraces feedback and brings a coachable mindset to every session. She hopes college coaches recognize her volleyball IQ, versatility, and ability to contribute in multiple roles. Her love for the game is evident not just in how she plays, but in the energy she brings, always ready to grow and always quick to laugh. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     [player_tooltip player_id='507405' first='Rachel' last='Nemee'], a 2028 libero from St. Mary's High School and Rage 15 – Garren, was honored to be invited to the Championship Performance Advantage All Star Event. Competing alongside elite athletes from top high school programs, NDTP, and Division I commits, she appreciated that Coach Chris Austin saw her potential and gave her the chance to rise to the challenge. The high-level environment brought out her competitive fire and love for the game.   Coach Austin's training sharpened Rachel's technical foundation, focusing on key details like footwork, platform, and reading. His feedback brought attention to small adjustments that boosted her consistency and execution on the court. More importantly, she credits him with helping her develop a stronger mindset, one that embraces growth, learns from mistakes, and plays with confidence.   Rachel hopes college coaches notice her court coverage, ability to read plays early, and vocal leadership. She communicates constantly, helping organize her team and guide her hitters through each play. Off the court, she brings that same leadership to her role as a class officer and member of the varsity drill team, showing that she is committed, well-rounded, and driven in everything she does. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     [player_tooltip player_id='474505' first='Raneighla' last='Gonzalez'], a 2028 middle and opposite heading to Sierra Canyon and playing club for City 15 Gold, felt proud to be recognized for her hard work and excited to compete alongside other elite athletes at the Championship Performance Advantage All Star Event. She enjoyed meeting new players and coaches, making connections, and embracing the competitive atmosphere. Training with Coach Chris Austin helped her improve her court awareness, recognize open spots, and understand hitter tendencies, all while strengthening her overall volleyball IQ.   Raneighla has learned to create opportunities rather than wait for them. She hopes college coaches notice her ability to stay engaged, remain a consistent offensive option, and bring high energy to every match. Off the court, she's passionate about art, animals, and family, and she brings the same joy and dedication to her relationships as she does to the game. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     [player_tooltip player_id='469035' first='Peyton' last='Recinos'], a 2028 defensive specialist from SG Elite 16 Roshambo and Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, embraced the opportunity to compete at the Championship Performance Advantage All Star Event. She appreciated the high level of competition and the chance to apply everything she has worked on in training. Working with Coach Chris Austin gave her a new perspective on how to read the game more clearly and let go of past mistakes to focus on the present. His guidance helped her sharpen her mindset and approach the court with clarity and confidence.   Peyton hopes college coaches see her as a scrappy defender with a strong presence in serve receive and an undeniable love for the game. She brings constant energy, lifts up her teammates, and plays with heart every point.
