MOKAN Coverage: Day One Holdovers (Free Report)

In this article:
Let me tell you something!
I do NOT like leftovers.
I WILL crush an apple turnover.
I prefer my eggs “Over Medium' rather than “Over Easy.”
I also get frustrated at times that I can't write an unlimited number of scouting reports on a daily basis.
Which takes me to my point, and yes I ripped off LA Knight with my opening line.
I scouted multiple summer matches at Washburn University on June 20-21.
Four reports were published already this weekend, but that just scratched the surface of the talent that was on display. Up to five matches were going on at once in two locations, so I did not see as much talent as I would have liked.
This report features “Holdover” athletes from Day One that I did not report on already this weekend. They are far from being leftovers; they just had to wait two extra days to be featured.

Wilson surprised me in Holton's Day One match against Wellsville. She spent time at setter! The outside hitter is ranked No. 2 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027, but might have to step up and do some setting this fall. She finished with four kills and eight digs in the Wildcats' two-set victory over Seaman II. I did not keep track of assists for her, as it took me a hot minute to realize she was setting part of the time. Wilson is highly skilled, and spending some time setting will only add to her versatility and recruiting stock.

Black has really impressed me this summer and is making a strong argument to be moved up the rankings with her play this summer. She impressed with her defensive skills during the Seaman tournament, but with Wilson setting during Friday's match, it was Black's hitting that caught me off guard. She recorded seven kills, two digs, and two serve receptions in the win over Seaman. She is currently ranked No. 25 overall by Prep Dig Kansas. She has a big reach and can jump with the best in her class.

Landry “The Chameleon” Litton will do whatever it takes for her team to be successful. She is one of the most gifted unselfish high school athletes I think I have ever scouted. She registered four kills, five digs, and three serve receptions in Beloit's Day One victory over Seaman II. She is a multisport athlete and can play anywhere needed in a volleyball lineup. Litton is ranked No. 5 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028.

Channell was the most impressive freshman I scouted this weekend. She can hit, set, and will be leaned on early by the Beloit coaching staff. She is jumps like a kangaroo and is super athletic. She recorded seven assists, two kills, and three digs in Beloit's first match of the day. She debuted at No. 41 in the first rankings for the Kansas Class of 2029. Spoiler alert; she will be ranked higher than that when the fall season concludes.
Alivia Burns Alivia Burns 5'7" | S Sedgwick | 2026 State KS , 5'7”, S, Sedgwick, '26
One of the biggest surprises in the tournament was the play of Burns. She is an unranked setter but was already set to debut in the rankings before I saw her play this weekend. Now, after seeing her play, she will debut higher than expected. I was impressed with her athletic ability, and she can run an offense. She is an excellent communicator and played solid defense for the Cardinals on Day One. She also plays softball and mans the hot corner. NAIA and JUCO coaches looking for a steal to add to their 2026 recruiting class should add Burns to their big board!
There were also four athletes who stood out from the pack, but whom I did not keep stats for during their matches. Prep Dig Profiles have been created for this group, and they can be claimed using the following link. https://prepdig.com/prospect-index/#claim-profile-anchor
Their athletic skills are what made them stand out. They include: Jazlene Kirk Jazlene Kirk 5'11" | OH Wellsville | 2027 State KS , Wellsville, ('27); Quincy Mondragon Quincy Mondragon 5'7" | S Seaman | 2029 KS , Seaman; ('29); Ella Vondracek Ella Vondracek 5'8" | OH/DS/L Sedgwick | 2028 KS , Sedgwick, ('28); and Jennah Wallace Jennah Wallace 5'6" | DS/L/S Sedgwick | 2028 KS , Sedgwick, ('28).
