We are concluding the month of July with several articles highlighting players from specific player groups and classes who turned in outstanding 2025 club seasons. These players will be rolling into the high school volleyball season with most college camps in the rearview mirror. The state of Washington won't have practices until August 25th, giving athletes a much-needed break from the grind. (if they want it!) Here are five 2028 middles that impressed and are ready to make waves as sophomores during the school season.

Hirst handled the middle for WVBA, forming a twin towers with Wakalea Barkema on the 15 Adidas team. The Jackson sophomore was seeing the block and working sharp angles at the Emerald City Classic, and she also added in a soft, accurate tip when the defense overcommitted. Hirst has excellent footwork on her block move to the pins- she closes well and uses good eyework to wall off hitters.

The 6'0" Ngono played with the SIVBC 14 Hurricane squad and showed the potential to be an excellent middle with a big-time block. The 2028 prospect from Garfield High School has an easy rise and superb length, and was altering swings even though she has been playing the sport for a relatively short time. Given time and training, Ngono has an excellent chance to be an impact player in the middle.

The 6'5" middle from Ridgefield is a player to watch moving forward. With impressive length and a sound armswing, Moog is already showing signs of increased power and pop offensively, and her block reach is a difference maker when attackers are lined up against her. As she continues to develop her strength and skill, Moog's height and movement translate to the high-major collegiate level.

Goranson plays a power game; she is strong at the net with a sense of how to work around the block and find the floor for kills. The Gig Harbor prospect hammers her serves, and the pace puts pressure on passers used to seeing consistent floaters. Goranson will smartly cut short her transition steps to be ready for an attack. She was able to keep defenses honest and rack up more attempts throughout the season.

The 2028 MB/RS from Camas High School had an excellent season for Aspire NW. Wiest was playing in the middle, but Aspire would frequently look to find her attacking from the right pin to take advantage of her strong arm and versatility. She is deliberate with her footwork, getting into transition, and works hard to be available for her setter.
