Let's give the juniors a share of the spotlight.

We're still picking through all of our notes, stats, and observations from last weekend's action-packed LPS Classic. In case you missed it, we've already riffed on some first impressions and standout sophomores from this major midseason stage. Now, we're dishing out some emerging stars who are quickly embracing their upperclassman status.

The Class of 2027 still has a long prep journey ahead. A select few of Nebraska's juniors have made collegiate pledges, but the vast majority of 2027s are still navigating the journey with multiple years left at this level. Big impressions are still being made, and the LPS Classic brought several under-the-radar athletes into focus.

Here are a few of our picks.

Sidlo's fascinating career progression continues. She made early waves with Lincoln Lutheran as a freshman while the Warriors were midway through their four-peat title streak. Sidlo can dominate as an opposite attacker and has also shown enough physicality to anchor the middle. However, her past club campaigns have also revealed Sidlo's finesse as a back-row setter and signal-caller. Sidlo helped [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 17 Black climb into the GJNC field behind this setter-hitter onslaught. Now, the attacking part of the equation is reemerging with Sidlo racking up 2.7 kills per set on the prep side. Back and forth we go.

Our multi-position theme persists with our next entry. Andreasen has been a shutdown middle blocker in the Nebraska Juniors gym, but her skill set has expanded as a junior with Lincoln Pius X. Last weekend's event gave us a glimpse of Andreasen's exceptional pin production and willingness to handle first contacts from the left side. Such a transition is rare at the prep level. Andreasen's range has given the Thunderbolts a renewed edge after last year's late-season surge to the Class B tournament. We could see a similar ascent this fall.

Riggins has stood out no matter where we've seen her. She's a past showcase standout on the Prep Dig Circuit, where her explosive approach and unrelenting power came to our attention. However, Riggins also wields the finesse needed to pass and defend at a high level. It's the kind of mold we'd expect from a leading outside attacker at Lincoln Southwest. The Silver Hawks have bolstered their wildcard resume in recent weeks and are even more battle-tested after the LPS Classic.

Lincoln's prep scene allows us to reconnect with many [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] standouts, and Scribner is one of those capitalizing on some positive club momentum. She has stepped back into the Lincoln Northeast lineup to produce the same all-around production we've come to expect from this multi-position star. Scribner has recently anchored the middle for the Rockets and leads the team in the blocking category. Of course, LNE can also look to Scribner to produce some floor-denting kills in transition.

Despite Lincoln Standing Bear being a relatively new team on the block, the Grizzlies have no shortage of reliable frontcourt firepower. Engelbart has carried the banner for the 2027s with three kills per set and a wealth of positive contributions across the back row. She produced a double-digit-kill performance in just two sets against Lincoln Pius X, exhibiting Engelbart's ability to step up against elite competition. A trip to the LPS Classic's Gold bracket should elevate Standing Bear's growing confidence.

Papillion-La Vista has shown the flexibility to deploy a few different lineups this year, and Schnabel fits into almost any of those iterations. We've seen her take over matches with Premier Nebraska on the club side, as Schnabel brings the intensity and aggression needed to run a 5-1 offense. Even if she's only setting out of the back row, this experienced junior setter provides plenty of value in Papio's three-hitter rotations. The Monarchs made huge strides in Lincoln last weekend and will keep reaching higher during a challenging Class A gauntlet.

We could use some backcourt representation in this one. Norris High School is often known for its platoon of defensive talent, and Twarling has helped uphold the tradition for this year's undefeated Titans. This instinctive libero is building off an exceptional club campaign with [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 16 Black and can slot into any zone along the endline with Norris. She has produced several highlight-worthy digs during the 2025 campaign, but Twarling's steady passing platform is perhaps her greatest asset. Another LPS Classic championship has Twarling and the Titans on a meteoric rise heading into October.
