Top Performers: Oregon’s State Finals 2025 Part 2

It was a tough battle between all teams, but only four were allowed to advance to the semis. The first two matches were between Sprague and South Medford on court one and Nelson and Sheldon on court two. Sprague left with the win, 3-0, as did Sheldon, 3-1. The second two matches were between Oregon City and Jesuit on court one and South Eugene and South Salem on court two. Jesuit secured the dub 3-0 and so did South Salem, 3-1. Later that night the semi finals commenced with Sheldon against Sprague and Jesuit against South Salem. Jesuit won again, 3-2, as did Sprague, 3-1. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fast forward to November 8, where the age-old rivals, Jesuit and Sprague, faced each other once again. After an incredibly well played match, Jesuit won it all, 3-2, making them the Oregon State champions for three years in a row.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>All teams that participated this weekend played incredibly hard, giving their all and playing until they could play no more. Her power on the pin is insane, snapping hard and clearing over blocks. Her deep corner hits are incredibly hard to pass with her epic 4 to 4 cut shot being even harder to pass. Her angles to her setters were precise and spot on with blocking coverage being even more so. When she is front row her blocks are on point, taking away space and pressing hard with open hands. She can launch the ball to either pin and is great at reversing the flow of plays. On serve receive, she beats her platform to the ball making great passes for her setter. Without a doubt she is one of the go-to hitters on her team, ripping the ball and scoring big points. Ross has improved greatly this season on her defense and serve receive, remaining calm and composed and taking balls with her platform. Her swings are low and flat but are proven hard to block due to her sheer power. She has great movements to the ball and can take a hard swing with her platform and get a good dig. She is loud, fast and has exceptional eye work, following hitters and adjusting accordingly.
