The goal is highlighting as many teams as possible before we get the season underway next month. Iowa Select is one of them. [program_tooltip program_id='429065' first='Club' last='Iowa Juniors'] (CIA) also runs a clean on-line operation. Today we're going to focus on one of the latter's top squads in 2026 - 17U Black.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The state should be strong in this age group. United is the reigning Iowa Regional champs from last season's 16U competition. PowerPlex returns with revenge on its mind and a stacked roster. This collection of CIA student-athletes should be able to compete with anybody out there, however. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Promise starts in the middle of the net with Marquette commitment [player_tooltip player_id='818213' first='Ryanne' last='Brubaker'] patrolling the area as a two-way standout. The 6-foot-8 junior helped Grundy Center reach the state tournament semifinals by producing 461 kills (.465) and 144.0 blocks in 116 sets, earning third-team all-state honors.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>CIA has a sound backup for Brubaker in the form of middle [player_tooltip player_id='533587' first='Carlea' last='Dagel']. The junior contributed 271 kills (.229), 43.0 blocks and 145 digs at Iowa Falls-Alden this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Opponents won't get a break at the pins with this outfit, either. Class 5A third-team all-stater [player_tooltip player_id='389853' first='Kennedy' last='Krecklow'] is one of the top six-rotations outside hitters in the Iowa prep ranks. As a junior for Cedar Falls this season, she piled up 353 kills (.303), 292 digs and 36.0 blocks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>CIA boasts another six-rotation outside that joined Krecklow on the 5A third-team all-state squad. Waterloo West's [player_tooltip player_id='495803' first='Ava' last='Jones'] earned the laurels after producing 352 kills (.226), 197 digs and 16.0 blocks in 2025. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='443089' first='Emma' last='Minteer'] from South Hardin and Dunkerton's [player_tooltip player_id='493976' first='Kylee' last='Pexa'] add juice to the attack by being versatile pins with power. Minteer posted 177 kills and 180 digs this year, while Pexa led the Raiders to the state tournament with 446 kills (.373), 368 digs and 48.0 blocks. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Getting the ball to all that firepower at the net with be Janesville's [player_tooltip player_id='493972' first='Tayah' last='Pollock']. The junior setter dished out 967 assists in 2025 as the Wildcats advanced to the 1A state championship match. She added 217 digs, 48 kills and 13.0 blocks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Beckman Catholic's [player_tooltip player_id='800116' first='Addisson' last='Hogan'] and [player_tooltip player_id='822692' first='Baylee' last='Bravender'] of Waterloo West will be passing the ball to Pollock and holding it down in the back row. Hogan earned second-team all-state honors in helping the Trailblazers to the state tournament with 506 digs. Her 75 assists illustrated her ability to set up teammates off the two ball. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bravender flashed upside as a sophomore in 2024 before missing this season.
