If there was one category that amazed me in the amount of depth and talent in the building, it was in the pin hitting group. So much size, skill and potential in all three graduating classes (‘27, ‘28 and ‘29), and there were more there than I had anticipated. Here are eight athletes that we'll be watching closer this coming spring to monitor their continued ascent.

Springy, quick and athletic, Jolie is next in line for Seton Catholic leadership in the volleyball program. As part of Munciana, she'll get a healthy dose of the pass-to-attack that she excelled at during her time this past Saturday. I'm more interested in how she uses her athleticism to overcome her size. What she's doing athletically is hard to duplicate or teach, and she's got plenty.

I've enjoyed watching this kid literally grow up on the volleyball court in the last 2+ years, and this past weekend emphasized one of the reasons the Dragons were so successful this fall. Her size, strength and left-handed hammer of an arm swing will carry her far this fall in the recruiting process.

Every graduating class at Providence seems to have THAT kid that's more than capable of carrying a team as a six-rotation outside. Hadley's the girl of the moment for the Pioneers, and will carry her talent and athleticism over to club season for Union this spring. Her pass-to-attack is above average for this class, her high attack point is better than most her size, and she's adept at finding the shot that works for where the set is located.

I had the chance to actually coach up the young Anika when she was going through some positionals. With all of that length (nearly 6' tall, if not taller) and the ability to jump well, her arm swing needed some tweaking. After an adjustment or two, she was easily coached into an on-the-spot fix that saw immediate results. This shows me (1) coachability and (2) the athleticism to make the fix quickly, neither of which is easy to come by these days.

The clear physical leader for Bloomington South, Lily's arrival made a difference in each on-court situation she was in. A pass-to-attack queen, Lily's ability to turn defense into offense was on display early and often, and she has that smooth athleticism that isn't seen as much at this age. I look forward to watching Lily's progress at Circle this coming club season.

From time to time, the coaches (read: drill directors) at our showcases give us the kids we should keep our eyes on for future ranking risers. Insert Brynn, as her play made MULTIPLE coaches mention her to me. With size, a lefty whip of a swing and athleticism to burn, Brynn showed up and showed out on Saturday.

As the main attack point for the Tiger offense this fall, Kendall was responsible for the majority of Yorktown's continued success on the court. When among the older, stronger kids from around the state, things didn't change—-she even got to receive serve a bit in drills and some game play, and held her own. If she's ADDING to what's already a well-rounded volleyball skill set, I can't imagine how good she can be.

Thanks again to the local coaches that helped us out on Saturday at the Academy, AND who went out of their way to mention to me Natalie's prowess. Athletic for days and strong in her upper body, Miss Akosa will be turning heads this club season for her springy and explosive nature. She'll make some 15s teams look average because of her skill set, and some others will look tiny compared to her jumping ability.
