Showcases need strong distributors, and last weekend's Iowa Exposure Tour filled that quota.

Our most recent positional feature from Sunday's event covered a handful of dynamic defenders, and we're sticking with the ball control theme for a while longer. We always enter our Iowa outings with high expectations for the setter spot, and our latest showcase did not disappoint.

We frequently harp on the idea that being a showcase setter is daunting. Athletes are paired with a rapidly rotating cast of hitters, many of whom are unfamiliar and have differing tempo and location preferences. Setters are tasked with adapting and learning on the fly.

Despite these challenging circumstances, several distributors rose to the occasion at the Iowa Exposure Tour. The region's future is in good hands--literally.

Iowa Impact has been well represented in our post-event features, so let's bring in another gem from the Class of 2027. Eimers connected well with her veteran peers in six-on-six drills and brought infectious effort to every rep. She was particularly good at dishing to her teammates in transition, allowing for highlight-worthy scoring plays after digs. Look for this versatile athlete to bring her medley of physicality and finesse to the Iowa Region circuit this spring.

Iowa Select is back in the spotlight with one of its best Class of 2028 distributors. Kane showed her full range during the Exposure Tour scrimmages and found ways to incorporate the middles when off the net. These middle connections were perhaps the highlight of Kane's stay in Des Moines, but she also has a knack for opening split-block opportunities for the pins. Her time in the Pleasant Valley spotlight is coming.

It's fair to say that Iowa PowerPlex setters played a big role in running the show last weekend. We'll start with Nelson, an agile sophomore setter with a wealth of defensive grit in the right-back area. Even if she's not handling the second contacts, Nelson's relentless floor defense allows her team to grind through marathon rallies. Her quickness translates well to the setter spot, as Nelson can get her feet to the ball and track down errant passes. PowerPlex 16U Nelson will surely benefit from this all-around prowess.

Let's stick with that PowerPlex 16U Nelson roster. Weiland joins this crew after logging a team high in assists and a large handful of kills with Southeast Polk High School. The sophomore has proven her willingness to guide a 5-1 offense or adapt to varying roles in a two-setter system. This kind of adaptability is a perfect fit for a showcase enviornment, and Weiland thrived at every stage of Sunday's outing. Weiland and Nelson are poised to form quite the combo in the PowerPlex 16s camp.

Iowa PowerPlex 16U Chapman is another notable squad honing its skills in the Horizon Events Center. Juergens will be a key contributor to that group, especially after taking a big step forward at our Exposure Tour. The Dallas Center-Grimes sophomore gained valuable on-court experience this fall and was a game-changing server for the Mustangs. This made Juergens a force in serve-pass drills who could challenge passers across the net. We'd expect nothing less from an Iowa PowerPlex standout.

Time to complete the PowerPlex quartet. Schaper joins forces with Juergens on the PowerPlex 16U Chapman roster, giving the team a broad expanse of lineup possibilities. We got a glimpse of Schaper's steady hands as a setter, but her platform and backcourt were just as impressive. Schaper led Ames High School in assists and aces while also piling up triple-digit digs along the end line. The Schaper-Juergens combo will be quite a sight in the 16U Chapman rotation.
