This one's for the 2027s.

Yesterday's feature highlighted a handful of high-profile 2028s who "played up" at last weekend's first wave of the Northern Lights Qualifier. Of course, Minneapolis's 17s divisions were dominated by 2027s, many of whom are still navigating their recruiting journey. Nebraska still has so many college-worthy juniors left on the "big board," so we need to do our part to bring these athletes to everyone's attention.

Here are just a few of our picks after the first big 17s qualifier on the club calendar.

We're checking back in with this hard-hitting opposite after another stellar early-season performance for [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 17 Black. Williams' ascent accelerated last fall when she helped Lincoln Southeast clinch its first state tournament berth in nearly a decade. She has proven her effectiveness on both pins, but her prowess at opposite takes precedence on the club side. Williams gets on top of the ball quickly and is a perfect fit for 17 Black's up-tempo style. A tour through NLQ's tough 17 USA division has given Williams another boost among her 2027 peers.

Morris is the kind of outside hitter who will do anything necessary to help her team succeed. She can play across the back row as a DS who will also remain an attacking threat on the pipe. Of course, Morris can also rotate into the front row and wield her quick arm on the left side. The Millard West junior has been a mainstay with Premier Nebraska 17 Black, a group that has seen plenty of NLQ success over the past two years. 2026 offered a continuation of that tradition, and Morris's versatility remains a must-see cog in the starting rotation.

Schuerman is making herself right at home with her new club. The all-everything athlete from Wilber-Clatonia High School has already cemented her hold on [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 17 Black's libero spot--a high honor for any new addition to a lineup. We've seen Schuerman play almost any position under the sun during her prep career, but her prior club campaigns have usually brought her defensive prowess into the spotlight. That spotlight grows brighter after Schuerman's productive NLQ outing, and she will only grow more comfortable with 17 Black moving forward.

Drevo has climbed the ladder in the [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] gym, landing her on the club's top 17s squad for 2026. We already know the move has paid off after 17 Elite's run to a 17 Open bid in Minneapolis. Prior seasons have shown us how terminal Drevo can be on the left side, but she primarily hits on the other pin for 17 Elite. It's a perfect move for a VCN lineup that has been increasingly willing to experiment with two-setter offenses. Drevo can come off the bench and immediately transform 17 Elite's firepower and physicality behind the setter. The Lincoln Christian standout can now dial in her connections further in preparation for GJNC.

17 Bravo was the lone NLQ entry from the Club Legacy camp, and we can't blame this group for heading back to Minneapolis. This group made plenty of NLQ noise as 16s last year, and Kopocis was a big part of that effort. Nothing changed in 2026. This DC West standout has brought her familiar brand of sky-high termination to 17 Bravo's frontcourt. She has a natural, fluid approach behind the setter and has a knack for swinging at the peak of her jump. Future qualifiers and regional events should offer further testament to Kopocis's game-changing scoring potential.

We've had a lot to say about Nebraska Elite 17-1's elite frontcourt talent, but let's not forget about the libero holding things down along the end line. Schroeder has been entrenched in the team's libero jersey since we started covering 2027s at the 15s level. That 15s season was a special time for Nebraska Elite, as Schroeder led her team to an Open championship at the Northern Lights Qualifier. So, a return to Minneapolis invariably led to more highlight-worthy moments for the Bennington defender. Schroeder's instincts and leadership have flourished as she gains more high-level experience at USAV qualifiers.

Nebraska Juniors 17 Black was identified as one of the state's surging squads after reaching NLQ's 17 American Gold bracket. Homolka delivered the kind of consistent outside hitter play that's required for such a milestone. The Central City junior was a savvy, low-error attacker in Minneapolis, but that's not the full extent of Homolka's contributions. She also dug in as a middle-back defender and dished out clutch passes for her setter. Six-rotation stars are a staple of most Nebraska Juniors lineups, and 17 Black has one in Homolka.
