Under The Radar Setters From The Class Of 2027

Our final edition of Under The Radar players for the class of 2027 features a group of five setters from around the state that have been largely hidden away, either in a previous club season or on the roster that they currently reside. Setters come in all shapes and sizes, and this group emphasizes that fact wholeheartedly. Here are five setters you might not know about, but should be making more recruiting waves as we get closer to the end of club season this spring.    After a full club season largely hidden away on a Rev team last spring, Kyra has more than made up for last years' slight by running the offense of Circle's 18-1 squad, earning a bid to GJNC 18s in Reno. Her relentless work ethic, quick pursuit of every ball, and unending athleticism and stamina make her one of the better setters in this class, all while playing up a year and playing an open-level schedule to boot. I also like her location of each and every set regardless of where the ball is passed or what situation the offense needs to score points. She's a coach's captain on the floor, and is more than capable of running the show herself at the next level.     The tallest of the setters listed here today, Claire is from western Indiana at a smaller-than-average school that doesn't stand out as a volleyball haven. No worries, however, as she's running the offense for Boiler Juniors' 17-1 squad and the open level at which they play. With high hands, consistent location and an innate ability to find the right hitter in the right situation, Claire's already doing upper-level setting and is merely fine-tuning her craft to adjust to better competition.     The best defender of the setting position in this article, Miss Ducey has risen Guerin Catholic to one of the top programs in all of 3A in the state of Indiana. Their resurgence is paralleled by Claire's rise in both skill set and volleyball IQ. For a smaller setter, Miss Ducey is more than capable of running a 5-1 on her own, but can also fit into a 6-2 for a program looking to add a smart, quick and adept setter for the next level.     Training at both a volleyball blue-blood high school and one of the best ball-control club programs in the country, Addison is a quick, smart and athletic setter that has a very high level of volleyball acuity. I like how she makes up for her smaller stature by showing off length and a max jump when getting a tight pass. Even in out-of-system passes, Miss Pierce finds ways to connect with her hitters and make a hittable ball be even better to score with. Her mere presence at our showcases has made the entire court better, and that goes to her long-standing training she's received over the years.     About as far under the radar as you can get with a setter, Sami is on Monon Select's 17 Cyclones, a regional club that trains under the umbrella of Academy. She's a thumb-forward setter, meaning that her deception is tougher to read than other setters on this list. More apt to be seen as part of a 6-2 at the next level, Miss Berg is a smooth, agile and athletic setter with deceptive hands that can give fits to opposing blockers who are trying to read and react.
