Many of those student-athletes were back at the blue oval this past weekend for the state meet </p>

<p>The weather was optimal for breaking records and fans flocking to Drake Stadium. The three-day crowd was the third biggest in the event's history. </p>

<p>Here's a closer look at accomplished volleyballers that impacted the competition in their events at this year's Class 4A state track meet:</p>

<p>-Southeast Polk's Alayna Goldsberry finished second in the 100 meters, logging a time of 12.10 seconds. The junior ended up fifth in the 200m, running a 24.86. Julia Knapp, who led Des Moines Roosevelt in kills last year, was sixth in the 200 (25.07).</p>

The Iowa State volleyball commitment ran the race in 55.23. Her older sister, Avery Vogt, a Drake volleyball signee, was fourth (56.17). Ankeny Centennial's [player_tooltip player_id='498069' first='Kaelyn' last='Rinehart'] also reach state in the 400. </p>

Brooklyn Brown anchored the Valley SMR to 11th place (1:48.12), and [player_tooltip player_id='831281' first='Cora' last='Shaw'] and [player_tooltip player_id='815861' first='Lila' last='Shaw'] helped Johnston end up 13th (1:49.24). </p>

They were joined in the Top 10 by Norwalk sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='560368' first='Elle' last='Hatlevig'], who finished ninth, and 10th-place Cambel Drapeau, a Creighton volleyball commitment. Ellie Muller (Dowling Catholic), Schmidt, [player_tooltip player_id='360642' first='Sophia' last='Austen'] (Iowa City West), [player_tooltip player_id='766068' first='Madison' last='Messerly'] (Dallas Center-Grimes) and Ava Groeteke (Dowling Catholic) also reached state in the event. </p>
