1 Day Until Summer NIT: Athletes Ready for What Comes Next

For some, Summer NIT is about exposure. For others, it is about testing themselves against elite competition. For many, it represents something bigger. A chance to see where they stand. A chance to showcase the growth that has taken place throughout the club season. A chance to take another step toward goals that stretch far beyond one weekend.   The athletes featured below are arriving with different backgrounds, different ambitions, and different stories. Some are chasing college volleyball dreams. Some are preparing for important recruiting milestones. Others are simply eager to compete against the best competition they can find.   What connects them is a willingness to keep growing.   As Summer NIT begins, these are a few athletes who appear ready for what comes next.    Brooke Cotter sees competition as a teacher.   While many athletes focus on the result of a match, Brooke appears just as interested in what the experience can reveal. Summer NIT presents an opportunity to face teams and players from across the country, and that challenge is exactly what excites her most.   There is a thoughtful approach to the way she views improvement. Stronger opponents create stronger athletes. Difficult matches expose areas for growth. Every experience becomes information that can be applied moving forward.   That same mindset extends beyond volleyball. Academics remain a major priority, and the vision she has for her future includes finding a college environment where both her education and volleyball development can thrive.   One reflection stood out immediately.   <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"> Failures and all the games you lose teach you so much more than the wins. </blockquote>   For Brooke, setbacks are not something to fear. They are part of the process. Arizona Outlaws can compete.   While many athletes focus on individual goals, Imogen keeps her mindset on her teammates. The competitiveness of her group, the chemistry they have built, and the opportunity to prove that strong volleyball exists outside of the clubs people hear about most often.   As a setter, leadership naturally sits at the center of her game. Communication, energy, and bringing people together are all qualities she values. Summer NIT simply provides a bigger stage to showcase those strengths against teams from across the country.   Her perspective on recruiting reflects the same mindset. She understands the process takes patience and persistence, and she hopes this weekend helps open new doors for both herself and her teammates.   <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"> Although it isn't going to be easy and there is most likely going to be challenges that you face, it is crucial that you continue to pursue and work hard no matter what. </blockquote>   That reflection feels fitting for an athlete who focuses on belief, not only in herself, but in the people around her.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     For Aileen Nimijan, volleyball has always been rooted in connection.   The excitement surrounding Summer NIT has very little to do with individual recognition and everything to do with competing alongside teammates she genuinely enjoys being around. Energy, chemistry, and shared experiences seem to drive much of what she values most about the sport.   That team-first mindset does not diminish her ambition.   Playing at the highest level remains one of her long-term goals, and Summer NIT provides an opportunity to compete against the type of teams that can reveal where growth is happening and where it is still needed.   There is an openness to the way Aileen approaches both volleyball and life. New experiences, new challenges, and opportunities to step outside her comfort zone are things she appears to embrace rather than avoid.   <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"> No matter when times get hard you just have to keep pushing yourself to the limit. </blockquote>   The athletes who continue leaning into difficult moments often discover what they are truly capable of.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Jensen Kubik looks forward to the Summer NIT because of the competition. One matchup immediately came to mind when she thought about the tournament, TAV.   After several battles this season, the possibility of seeing them again is something she genuinely welcomes. The challenge excites her.   Aggressive players tend to enjoy moments where they are pushed, tested, and forced to respond. Jensen appears to fall into that category. She wants to compete against great teams, play meaningful matches, and see how her game responds under pressure.   June 15 is approaching quickly, making events like Summer NIT even more important for athletes in her class. Still, one of the most insightful parts of her perspective had nothing to do with recruiting.   <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"> Everyone's journey is different and comparing yourself is a big mental block but just believe in yourself. </blockquote>   That kind of perspective often helps athletes stay focused on their own growth rather than someone else's timeline.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Gratitude seems to sit at the center of Isabella Hedrick's volleyball journey.   It appears in the way she approaches opportunities. It appears in how she views improvement. It even appears in the excitement she feels about competing against athletes who challenge her to raise her level.   For Isabella, Summer NIT is more than a tournament. It is a chance to continue learning.   The libero position requires consistency, composure, and the ability to stay engaged through every point. Those qualities align naturally with the way she views growth. Mistakes are part of the game, but they are also part of the learning process.   Academics are equally important. Maintaining a 4.0 GPA while pursuing interests in sports medicine and physical therapy reflects the same commitment to improvement she brings to volleyball.   <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"> Volleyball is a game of mistakes but it's very important you keep an open mindset and are willing to learn and grow from these mistakes. </blockquote>   That outlook may be one of the biggest reasons she continues moving forward.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Every match feels like an opportunity in Kiersten Pruitt's eyes.   Not simply an opportunity to win.   An opportunity to compete, create, learn, and showcase what she can bring to the court.   That perspective is one of the reasons Summer NIT feels like such a natural fit for her. High-level competition is not something she shies away from. It is something she actively seeks out.   The idea of facing strong teams, playing in front of college coaches, and measuring herself against talented athletes appears to energize her. Those experiences are part of the process.   Off the court, many of the same qualities continue to surface. Dependability, positivity, and bringing good energy to the people around her all seem to matter.   <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"> Never stop pushing yourself. To be on a national stage, it takes consistency, discipline, and hard work ethic. </blockquote>   That message reflects both where she is today and where she hopes to go next.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Aniah Brown has a clear vision for where she wants volleyball to take her.   The Arizona Outlaws athlete hopes to continue her career at the Division I or Division II level, and Summer NIT represents another opportunity to compete in front of coaches while testing herself against some of the strongest clubs in the country.   Athleticism sits at the center of her game. Quickness, explosiveness, and the ability to score in ways that force opponents to adjust are qualities she believes separate her on the court. While others may focus on measurements, Aniah focuses on impact.   That confidence seems to come from somewhere deeper than volleyball.   Faith, family, and a commitment to improving outside of practice all play important roles in how she approaches life and competition. There is a strong belief that growth is earned through daily effort, not simply through the hours spent in the gym.   <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"> Don't believe what others say, show them what you can do. </blockquote>   That message feels like more than advice.
