Iowa teams represented the state well on the sport's biggest stage.

I hadn't watched much of this age group this year. I tried seeing as much as possible in Indy wanting to familiarize myself with student-athletes tuning up for their freshman year in high school this fall.

I'll have more on these folks in the near future, but here's a roundup of what I witnessed in the Circle City:

Iowa Select 14 Mizuno

The Iowa Regional champs capped a great year with a ninth-place finish in the 48-team National Division. It reached the Silver A Bracket title match, dropping a tough, three-set decision to VEVA Impact 15-Black. I watched some of it and also caught Iowa Select at other times during the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='918791' first='Zoë' last='Cinadr'] and Madysen Strohbehn were six-rotation outsides showing big-time potential. Grace Griswold set herself apart at setter, and the same could be said of [player_tooltip player_id='880999' first='Kinsley' last='Needham'] at libero. [player_tooltip player_id='877691' first='Piper' last='Peterson'] and Kainoa Senio proved to be full of potential.

[program_tooltip program_id='431948' first='Iowa' last='Rockets'] 14R

While I didn't get to watch as much of 14R as I'd hoped in Indy, it was a team I saw periodically throughout the season. The Iowa Regional runner-up ended up 23rd out of 48 teams in the National Division.

[player_tooltip player_id='960234' first='Farrah' last='Coleman'] is a six-rotation outside with sharp skills in the back row and notable bounce when swinging at the pin. [player_tooltip player_id='790527' first='Kate' last='Pieper'], [player_tooltip player_id='878434' first='Ashlee' last='Statler'], [player_tooltip player_id='993649' first='Abby' last='Roling'] and Nora Ramler were athletes that stood out when I was watching the squad in Indy.

CIA 14 Black

Like with the Rockets 14s, I wanted to catch more of CIA 14 in action than I did. What I did see opened my eyes to a connected team with a talented roster. It turned into an impressive fifth-place finish in the 48-team USA Division, where it reached the Gold Bracket.

Molly Street is a name to know as an explosive six-rotation outside hitter with keen skills. Brehanna Murch, Lucy Murch, Kinley Schulte, Haleigh Kiewiet and Ayriella Phelps should also be on the radar of volleyball fans in Iowa.

Six Pack 14U

Like with Select and CIA, I was impressed in my first live look at Six Pack 14s. They ended up 22nd in the USA Division.

[player_tooltip player_id='999485' first='Lucy' last='Walker'] is an interesting six-rotation setter in a 6-2. She handles all of the setting responsibilities, stands up well in the back row and can swing from the pins. Outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='771239' first='Alayna' last='Streeter'] impacts matches through six rotations, too. Middle hitters [player_tooltip player_id='965637' first='Mya' last='Herrmann'] and Aleya Bain are a dynamite 1-2 punch, and libero Nevaeh Larson flashes promise in the back row.

Other Observed Athletes of Note...

-United 14-1 Elite: [player_tooltip player_id='878926' first='Kathryn' last='Jones'], [player_tooltip player_id='878889' first='Payson' last='Ellard'], Alexis Gaffey, Malani Roach, Brooklyn Scheetz.

-DBQ Insanity 141 National: [player_tooltip player_id='936330' first='Mia' last='Walker'], [player_tooltip player_id='780202' first='Mallory' last='Pfab'], [player_tooltip player_id='936357' first='Jacey' last='Burkle'], [player_tooltip player_id='936342' first='Giana' last='Bishell'], Harper Proctor.

-Adrenaline 14 Doug: Delaney Joens, Emerson Ridgway, Ellisyn Klein, [player_tooltip player_id='995480' first='Leighton' last='Tritle'], Catie Putman.

-Iowa Juniors 14 Black: [player_tooltip player_id='1000095' first='Ava' last='Rock'], Adriana Wylie, Tenley McColley, Amani Underwood, Taylor Hinshaw.
