Marais has steadily improved her all-around game since seeing her for the first time as a Prairie freshman at the Prep Dig Sizzle. She was bouncy back then and has added to her impressive vertical leap. There's more power at the pin than there was a few years ago as well. I noticed the progress when watching her help her club team win its division at the competitive Prep Dig Gauntlet in June. I scouted her again in late September when she was hammering away for the Prairie Hawks against Iowa City High during an MVC match at Coralville's Xtream Arena. Coming into this week's action, the junior was second in kills on the team and among its leaders in blocks and digs.

Whitehall has been an impactful two-way hitter in the MVC for multiple years. The senior was competing at a high level again when watching her play in person against Iowa City High late last month at Xtream Arena in Coralville. Whitehall was leading the Prairie Hawks in kills entering this week's action. She ranked second in blocks. The left-hander is a handful when swinging away from the opposite pin. Whitehill rises well above the net and generates impressive velocity after making contact on top of the ball. She can power through or around blocks and has a knack for ending points from the middle, too. Whitehill flows well with the action and puts herself in position to defend up front.

I've enjoyed watching Hingst compete on the volleyball court. An undersized middle, the Prairie senior makes up for her lack of traditional height in the middle of the net with explosiveness off of the floor into a big vertical leap. She benefits from strong timing on the block and surveys the defense to expose openings when rising up to terminate points. Entering play this week, Hingst was leading the Prairie Hawks in blocks and among the top performers in putting the ball down. She'd taken a step forward with her performance when watching her against Iowa City High in a MVC match late last month at Xtream Arena in Coralville.

I watch a lot of volleyball. As a result, I own great memories of seeing student-athletes work on their games and advance them through development. Wehr is one of those kids who I've really enjoyed witnessing get better over time. She loves the game and wants nothing more than for her team to succeed. Being a good teammate and bringing great, positive energy to the court are a couple of her best traits. Wehr is improving her consistency when it comes to all aspects of the sport. Her sets are precise and where her attackers have the best chance to succeed. The high school volleyball years create wonderful life memories for everyone involved. Connections are strong.
That thought was the impetus behind developing these scouting-report/photo pieces a few seasons ago to act as yearbook pages. I've written as many of them as I could based on watching teams play in person. Hopefully, they capture that squad in words and pictures, and can be accessed years down the road.
Today, we look at Prairie, who I watched compete against the Iowa City High late last month inside Xtream Arena in Coralville. The Prairie Hawks flashed a lot of potential when they were clicking.
