Since it is Halloween, we are going to continue our Halloween Horror Story Series. The next players up are the ones who set up the hitters for kills…Setters. Texas is arguably one of the best offensive states in the nation and if you are leading the thousands of players here in any statistical category, that says a lot. Let's take a look at the following junior assist leaders from the Lone Star State.

Miss Coan might be the most dangerous server among the junior setters in Texas. She leads her team with 70 aces this fall and had five of them in a sweep of Cleveland. That serve is only part of her game. The junior stud has 954 assists at 8.8 per set in her second season as a varsity starter. She has a knack for making her hitters better and her best performances have come with the team needing her most. In a five set win over Willis she put up 39 assists and nine digs. She posted another 39 assists with 11 digs and three aces in a sweep of Conroe. When she does attack she makes it count and she was hitting better than .480 earlier this season. Her combination of distribution and serving makes her one of the most valuable setters in the Houston area. Please help us congratulate her on earning this well deserved recognition.

Memphis landed a left handed setter who can hurt a defense from the second contact. Ally is a natural lefty and she uses that to attack on two and keep opposing blockers guessing. She has 944 assists through 117 sets and averages 8.1 per set. Her kill numbers back up the threat. She has posted seven kills in multiple matches this fall, including 35 assists with 14 digs and seven kills against Stephenville. She also plays right side, so she is comfortable swinging and blocking in the front row. Her defense is a strength as well, and she had 10 digs with a solo block in a sweep of Brownwood. Brock has rolled through much of its schedule with Hawkins running the offense. Few setters in Texas give a college staff as many ways to use them. With her production this season, she is in line to be included in the State Ranking during the next update. Please help us congratulate her on earning this well deserved recognition.

Sidney has the highest assist average in this group at 9.3 per set. The Katy junior has 928 assists in exactly 100 sets and serves as a team captain. When our Prep Dig staff watched her last year, she stood out for her creative distribution and her ability to catch defenses off guard with setter dumps. She has carried that creativity into this season. Her best night came in a five set win over Paetow when she dished out 46 assists. In an earlier sweep of Paetow she had 29 assists with four aces and two solo blocks. She also has experience swinging from the right side and digging in right back, which makes her a well rounded player. She plays up an age group in the club season, so she is used to seeing faster competition. Her vision and court sense make her one of the smartest setters in the 2028 class. Please help us congratulate her on earning this well deserved recognition.
