Pin Hitters Who Made a Difference at the Katy Cy-Fair Tournament

One of the most competitive and traditional high school volleyball preseason events in the Houston area, the Katy ISD-Cy Fair ISD Tournament took place this past weekend, reuniting 48 varsity teams on six high school campuses in the Katy and Cypress regions between Thursday and Saturday. These outside hitters had a big weight in the teams' campaigns:    Korenek helped A&M Consolidated have a strong campaign in the event, earning seven wins and just one loss. The sophomore was one of the most lethal offensive players in the event, making great use of her lenght and high contact point to hit over the top of opposing blockers. Korenek also stood out for her decision-making, consistently picking the best options to put the ball down and limiting her errors. A productive blocker, she also caused damage from the service line, getting opponents out of system with her aggressive floaters.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2026/08/2J4A0009_0f7d6d.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1018819" /></figure>    Knowles was one of the standouts on the Tomball team that was nearly perfect over the weekend, registering seven wins and a loss. The senior made a big impact with her all-around game and was one of the pillars of their game, appearing well on both sides of the ball. Knowles demonstrated nice firepower in her offense, but was also very steady and efficient with her decision-making, finding ways to hit around the block and to score off tips. The pin hitter was also reliable with her passing and produced some impressive digs.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2026/08/2J4A0015_43d58a.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1018338" /></figure>    Klein and her Deer Park team ended the event with five wins and three losses. A ball-control master, the senior provided the team with great stability with her consistent passing and intelligent offense. Klein handled the serves that went her way extremely well and also performed well on defense, coming up with nice digs. She did a good job of keeping opponents under pressure with her aggressive serving and kept her side out steady, showing good vision to hit around the block and the intelligence to tool it when pressed at the pin.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2026/08/2J4A0021_ceb2d5.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1018343" /></figure>    Lindsey was part of the Oak Ridge team that earned five wins and three losses. Tall and physical, the senior was very effective at the net, scoring at a good rate and contributing defensively with her big, well-balanced blocking. Lindsey demonstrated enough firepower to overcome the well-formed blocks that stood in her way, but was even better when hitting a quick set at the pin in which she showed great quickness to beat the opposing blocker. The outside hitter also had a big role in serve-receive, covering a large area of the court.     Williams played for the Canyon team that got mixed results, securing four wins and four losses. The freshman demonstrated a well-developed offensive game and was one of the team's best scoring options. Williams made use of her impressive firepower to score points when in system and was even more impressive in out-of-system plays, showing excellent vision and decision-making to find solutions to difficult situations, keeping her errors very low. A libero at the club level, the sophomore mainly stood out for her ball control and production on the back row. Kelley was consistently effective with her passing and also made an impact on defense, showing remarkable agility to react and chase tips and shots.
