2027 Rankings Update- Superior Setters

The class of 2027 has a tremendous amount of depth at the setter position. It's not just in the top ten at setter; it runs through the top fifty ranked players and the Watch List. The five top-ranked setters are [player_tooltip player_id='459079' first='Kathryn' last='Harris'] (WSU), [player_tooltip player_id='473859' first='Gracie' last='Jacoby'] (uncommitted), [player_tooltip player_id='506405' first='Teuila' last='Halalilo'] (Portland), [player_tooltip player_id='486981' first='Elliana' last='Smith'] (Western) and [player_tooltip player_id='501666' first='Olivia' last='Puttler'] (uncommitted).   The rest of the group is incredibly solid- with tremendous leaders and likely all-league players stacked from setters ranked 1 through 50. Here are five we have our eye on as we head into the school season.    Cashmere is going to be a very tough matchup for anyone this fall- Diaz will be orchestrating the attack and looking to break through with a state title. It's a mighty task with Chelan in the conference; Diaz is the type of leader and player who has a chance to get it done. She is well-trained and skilled; her setting is just one strength of her overall game. Diaz can operate in a 5-1 or play as an attacker off the right side- expect big things out of Diaz and Cashmere again this fall.     The Mt. Spokane floor leader is a coach's kid who understands the game and makes the players around her better- with both the quality of her setting and her excellent attitude and ability to connect. McMurray has been a consistent, positive presence for CPA Benson in a 6-2 offense; she will be called on to be a steady, stabilizing force on the floor as a senior for the Wildcats this season.     Bone is a hustling player who runs an offense with tempo and isnt afraid to push the limits to find her attackers in a bemneficial match up. The Issaquah prospect has the speed to track down errant passes, and the body control to control her momentum and put up a hittable set. Bone excelled with a talented WVBA 17 Adidas team during club; she plays all-out with great energy and creativity at setter.     McCaw is a setter with size, solid set location, and athleticism. The Walla Walla High School prospect reads opposing attackers quickly on defense, taking away tips and shots and delivering a quality first contact for her team to work with in transition. McCaw can set her feet and fling it to pins with tempo; she isn't afraid to reverse the flow and keep the block honest.     Taliloa has every set in her bag- she can send it pin to pin from nearly any spot on the floor and is an expert at turning a tight pass into an easy kill for her attackers. The rising senior from Mount Rainier High School can pop up tips or deflections with a sweet one-handed stab on defense- she has tremendous hands and ball control anytime she has a touch. Taliloa is a leader for her teams; we expect Abby to lead the Rams back to the state tournament with the potential to grab a trophy this time around.
