TX Halloween Horror Stories – Junior Accomplices to Kills V2

Since it is Halloween, we are going to continue our Halloween Horror Story Series. The next players up are the ones who set up the hitters for kills…Setters. Texas is arguably one of the best offensive states in the nation and if you are leading the thousands of players here in any statistical category, that says a lot. Let's take a look at the following junior assist leaders from the Lone Star State.

Lamar landed a setter with a rare blend of size and touch in Miss Lawson. I saw it firsthand at the Exposure Tour in Houston, where she showed soft hands and a consistent neutral setting position. She started her club career as a middle and moved to right side before taking over at setter. That background gives her a strong presence at the net. This fall she has 993 assists at 8.9 per set. She is feeding [player_tooltip player_id='1053191' first='Caroline' last='Doerre'], one of the top junior kill leaders in the state. Her best nights include 43 assists against Pasadena and 39 assists with four aces against Ball. She also stays involved on defense and had 11 digs in a sweep of Port Neches-Groves. Her size and athleticism give her plenty of room to grow into an even more dynamic offensive leader. Please help us congratulate her on earning this well deserved recognition.

Landry has the highest assist average of any junior in Texas at 10.5 per set. She has 970 assists in only 92 sets. The 6'0" setter runs the offense for an Allen team that climbed to No. 4 in the MaxPreps national rankings early this fall. She earned all tournament honors at the Allen Texas Open. By the time Allen was 15-1 she had already passed 420 assists, more than half of her total from last season. Her height gives her a big advantage at the net. She can release the ball from a higher point, which speeds up the offense and makes it harder for blockers to read. She has also played opposite, so she is a threat to attack or block on the right side. She has the length and the touch that top programs look for at the position. Please help us congratulate her on earning this well deserved recognition.

Kendall has been running a winning offense since her freshman year. As a ninth grader she earned second team all district honors on a team that went 12-0 in district play. A year later she was setting for an A&M Consolidated team that reached the 5A state final. This fall she has 995 assists at 9.1 per set for a team that has won 16 of its last 17 matches. At 5'9" she can also play opposite and that hitting background helps her understand what her attackers need. She had 36 assists in a sweep of Montgomery, the team led by the top senior kill leader in the state. Her location stays consistent and she keeps her hitters in rhythm during long rallies. She also chips in at the net with a solo block in a win over Huntsville. Few juniors in Texas have as much big match experience. Please help us congratulate her on earning this well deserved recognition.

As always stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes. If you have anyone you think we should watch out for, please shoot me an email with some info at Michael@prepdig.com. You can also DM me in Instagram and X by searching @CoachMikeDZ. Also don't forget to help these kids get more exposure by sharing our stories with your friends. Help us help them by simply reposting on X or sharing on Facebook. Thanks for following us, Prep Dig Texas Family! Don't be afraid to interact with us. We love the likes, shares, and quotes/comments. Keep them coming!
