The group was able to go 3-2 at the second Open Tournament, losing only to a talented Webfoot 18-1 team twice. Because of this, they moved up to #16 in the region. While quite a few of the athletes from last season’s OJVA 15-1 Gold made the team, they also pulled from last season’s 16-2 Blue team and secured some talented newbies to the club. The team is led by veteran OJVA coach TJ Schlatter, hall-of-fame Portland State athlete, and current Canby High School head coach. Assisting TJ will be her long-time assistant coach Cole McMahon.
Carle was a massive pick up for the OJVA 16 Gold team. An impressive setter, she is coming off a fantastic high school season with Jesuit where she spent most of that season running a 5-1. Her play helped the team advance to the 6A State finals. This club season, playing opposite Kamden Mitchell Kamden Mitchell 5’10” | S Crescent Valley | 2025 State #41 Nation OR , it is assumed the duo will run a 6-2. She has impeccable decision-making skills and confidently runs the court with ease. She is incredibly impressive to watch on defense, with a quick reaction time, she is able to dig most everything.
Highlights
Christensen is a talented and versatile left-handed attacker. She has shown a significant amount of improvement over the last year, competing with 16-2 last club season. She improved significantly enough to not only make it on 16 Gold but be an impact player. Tall, athletic, and physical, she can transition between the right pin and the middle seamlessly. When she connects with the ball, with a strong-arm swing, she proves she can be an offensive weapon.

Competing with 15 Gold last season, Hill should take on a similar role this season as a six-rotation outside hitter. Standing at 6-feet and touching almost 10-feet, when Hill connects with the ball it proves hard to stop. She has a hammer of an arm swing and an explosive approach; she can nail the ball down the line or sharp cross-court. Hill is well on her way to being a top 2025 recruit from Oregon.
Jung has been leading this group since 12s when she started with the club in 5th grade. There is no doubt she will be a steadfast anchor for the backrow of 16 Gold. She is a technically sound athlete in every aspect of her game. On serve receive she is reliable and consistent. On defense she is smart and speedy. Also, Jung brings a calm and positive demeanor to the court. Assuming the backrow is run similarly to the past two seasons, Jung and Longaker will be splitting libero jerseys.
Longaker is a sound defensive specialist. She took on a significant load this past high school season, stepping up as Central Catholic High School’s primary libero. So, she is coming into this season with some high-level experience under her belt. She is incredibly technical on serve receive, allowing her team to execute their offense. Defensively, Longaker is quick and does an impressive job reading the attack. Assuming the backrow is run similarly to the past two seasons, Longaker and Jung will be splitting libero jerseys.
Kayfes is an insanely athletic and versatile attacker. Touching over 10 feet, she can hit in the middle with the best of them. However, she makes for an impressive right side, given her massive block, but she can also swing on the outside with conviction. She has a fast approach, a high reach, and a quick arm, so she proves terminal from anywhere on the court. Gaining more confidence in her back-row play, she has the potential to be a standout six-rotation pin hitter from the class of 2025.
Mitchell was a surprising pick-up for OJVA, given that she will be commuting from Corvallis to Beaverton for training. Previously playing for G3, she comes to the club an incredibly impressive six-rotation setter/right-side hitter. This club season, playing opposite Jackie Carle Jackie Carle 5’7″ | S Jesuit | 2025 State OR , it is assumed the duo will run a 6-2. She is athletic, technical, and confident as a setter. Her all-around play will be instrumental for this team to compete at a high level.
