<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The last day of district play in the Texas High School volleyball season featured a lot of exciting battles across the Lone Star State, with playoff berths and seeds in play on the final matchday of the regular season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As was the case in the entire season, Prep Dig continued to follow the action closely and provided coverage with a Top Performers Report, highlighting the prospects who stood out on the court, and a photo gallery.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Tuesday, October 24, we were in Houston following the match between the Stratford Spartans and the Jersey Village Falcons in Division 6A - District 17.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Spartans entered the court with the district title guaranteed, but managed to complete district play undefeated, with 14 wins, thanks to a strong 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-18) victory that improved their season record to 37-6. Corbeil kept her efficiency rate stable during the entire match and was excellent at using her power and explosiveness to score points while also keeping her errors very low. She scored big points in important moments and remained a big piece of the Spartans' play from start to finish. A lefty, she had an excellent offensive night, scoring at a good rate and very rarely making mistakes, turning to tips and roll shots when she couldn't swing. Jones displayed a very high volleyball IQ and great maturity in her shot selection, swinging hard when she had a chance and using her length and high contact point when Jersey Village's blocking was there. Dunwoody had an interesting battle with Sophia Burke as the net as both middles had excellent performances. The two were precise with their locations and kept all their hitters involved. Cook also made some interesting plays, moving hitters around and creating difficulties for Jersey Village's blockers. The setter had some good serving runs, serving with precision and getting the opponents out of system, and also made some strong defensive plays, especially on set three. Burke mixed things up very efficiently on offense, swinging with power and using some tips too, which created issues for Stratford to stop her. The junior displayed good resources to face Stratford's big blockers and, despite getting stuffed at times, she kept swinging until the end and had a good efficiency rate. Freeman also played a key role in serve-receive, splitting the court with libero Julia Ultis, and handled the serves that went her way well for the most part, using overhand passes very well.
