Grover has long been a prospect packed with potential. The Indianola junior really began realizing it in the last year. That led to colleges gaining interest in her and, eventually, a commitment to Wayne State, a solid Division II program. Grover hasn’t rested on her accomplishments if two recent in-person scouting opportunities are any indication. She impressed with her play during Indianola’s improbable run to the state tournament in November, but took another step forward against top competition during April’s Adidas Windy City National Qualifier and ASICS Show Me National Qualifier in Kansas City. Grover has a great feel for defending at the net. It results from a combination of height, leaping ability, long arms and feel for flowing with the opposing attack. Odds of getting a block or altering swings go up when there’s proper positioning and angles taken, which she shows an excellent knack for doing. It led to 53.0 blocks in the fall, when she also produced 280 kills (.223). Already one of the state’s better 2027s, there’s room for plenty more, which should be exciting for the Warriors fans at Wayne State.
