Finally, pins (pt. 4)!
Sherby, a six-rotation outside hitter for Athena 16-1, is an all-around solid, talented athlete. On serve receive, Sherby is very skilled at positioning herself well to put up beautiful passes on even the toughest of serves. Sherby also has a quick approach and a fast, strong arm swing, both of which she uses well to move the ball around the court. Sherby is a versatile attacker, hitting effectively from both pins.
Highlights
The #1 recruit for the class of 2025, the 2024 Oregon Gatorade Player of the Year, and a University of Arizona commit, Thies is, undoubtedly, one of the best outside hitters in the state right now. Hitting for NPJ 18 Forefront, Thies combines an insanely explosive approach, a hammer of an arm, and her height at 6’2” to bury the ball. She is an unstoppable weapon from both pins and the pipe. Thies also puts up a deadly block that stops opposing hitters in their tracks.
Highlights
Urquhart is new to our radar, but after a standout season as one of two freshmen on the Lincoln varsity team, she has certainly proved that she’s a player to watch. The MAC 15-1 middle blocker-turned-outside hitter is a well-rounded player; Urquhart has a quick and powerful arm swing, she is consistent on serve receive, and she has great hands, which she can use effectively when needed.
Vawter, an outside hitter for G3 16-1, is a physical player with a heavy arm. Vawter has a strong arm swing and a killer cross court shot, consistently tagging the deep court with her attacks. Vawter also has excellent court vision, which she uses well to make tips and shots over or around the block, or to hit down the line into open court. From the baseline, Vawter has a tough jump float serve.
Highlights
Hitting for COVC 18-1, Vohs is an impressive offensive weapon. The six-rotation outside and St. Mary’s College commit has a hammer of an arm, which she uses effectively to hit over, through, and around the block. Vohs is not just a stellar attacker when she gets a perfect set, but she is also great at adjusting well to out-of-system sets and making smart, tough plays to score.
Wagstaff, the #2 right side for the class of 2025, is a consistent, physical attacker for the OJVA 17-1 team. The left-handed pin hits around the block well, often tagging the baseline with her deep attacks. She moves her hits around from line to cross court with ease. Wagstaff also showcases solid court vision, which she uses to make smart shots over the block.
Walker, a pin hitter for OJVA 18-1 and a Sonoma State commit, is a versatile attacker who can dominate from either pin. Primarily attacking from the right side this club season, Walker is super quick to transition and jumps high. She combines a fast, explosive approach with a whip of an arm and a dynamic arsenal of shots to put the ball away practically effortlessly.
Highlights
Williams is a powerhouse six-rotation outside hitter playing for Athena 18-1. Williams showcases an incredibly explosive, aggressive approach and a super fast arm swing, both of which she uses to hit the ball straight down. With her ability to practically beat the block and attack to any opening on the court, Williams is hard to defend against. She also has a super tough top spin serve from the baseline.
