Sasha Keys, setter for TAV Houston, is a steady and hardworking floor leader who does an excellent job running the offense. She consistently works to get her feet to the ball and establish strong positioning, allowing her to deliver clean sets with two hands up even in difficult situations. Her ability to move the ball across the net keeps the offense balanced and unpredictable, giving all of her hitters opportunities to succeed. Keys does a great job distributing the ball and forcing defenders to stay honest, making it difficult for opposing blocks to lock in on one attacker. Her composure, movement, and decision-making make her an important piece of TAV Houston’s offensive rhythm.

Keys is part of the TAV Houston 17 Black team that will be in action in the 17 Invitational Division in Round Rock. She continues to trend up as her game continues to evolve and add new elements after she made the move from outside hitter. Keys has a great combination of athleticism and technical skills that make her game unpredictable and hard to read. She’s typically very flexible with her offense and thrives by adjusting to the circumstances of each match. Keys, who can also help offensively if needed, plays with a nice mix of calm and confidence that elevates her game.

Highlights

Keys will be in action with TAV Houston 16 Adidas – Ray in Pool G in the 16s division of the event. She is one of the fastest-rising setters in the Houston area, and she continues to refine her game and has been able to add many interesting pieces to it. Keys has some of the best hands in the region and is very creative with her offense, displaying great ability to adjust to the circumstances of each match. She used to be a pin hitter and can also contribute to her team offensively, getting off the floor well and displaying great vision to put the ball down. Keys is extremely athletic too and that positively reflects in every aspect of her game.

Miss Keys has moved up big time in our state rankings.  She is now listed as the 37^th best overall prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings.  She plays volleyball at Waller High School and plays club for the TAV Houston program. We have written about Sasha this year a few times and every word has been warranted.  One of the main aspects that helped me determine the movement in the rankings is how she not only changed positions from outside to setter, but how she made the change so easily at a high level.  This is largely due to the hard work that she put in during private training with her club staff over the summer.  It normally takes someone years in order to train as a starting setter and be able to play at the open level, but this phenom did it in one summer.  What astounds me the most is how she can easily transition from one position to the next in a given tournament if that is what her team needs her to do.  This should have all college coaches interested because of how unselfish she is.  We 1000% recommend her to everyone.  Please help us congratulate her on earning a spot on our State Rankings.

I first saw Sasha in action at the Prep Dig Top 250 Camp in Houston, and then I caught her again at the 2024 FAST Warm Up. She’s such an awesome setter, and I really think she’s going to go places. She’s super quick and has a knack for reading where the ball is headed, which means she’s always in the right spot, waiting for the ball to come to her instead of scrambling for it. Seriously, her jump sets are some of the cleanest I’ve ever seen! Because she gets to the ball early, she can jump set like 90% of the time. Plus, her set releases are tough for blockers to figure out, and with her impressive vertical, she totally leaves them guessing, opening up easy plays for her hitters.

Sasha is currently listed as the 76^th best overall prospect in the 2027 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings.  She plays volleyball at Waller High School and club for the TAV Houston volleyball program.  Miss Keys is one of those rare super athletic players who can literally do it all on the court.  I have seen her last year be  elite on the pins due to her amazing ability to get off of the ground super fast.  She can sky with the best of them and contort her body when needed to hit around the block with both power and finesse.  If there is ever an overpass and she is at the net with no one in front of her, the ball with be bounced for a kill for sure.  She is making the move to be a full-time setter this year and you can see the hunger in her eyes.  I spoke with TAV director and super coach Ray Hedden who mentioned just how proud of the work that she has been putting in the gym to make the position change.  What I saw from her at the Expo showed me that she has every chance to stay in the rankings in a different position during the next update.  Her hands are extremely soft and her location is getting scary good.  I loved what I saw in her footwork as she chased down passes and was in a perfect position to deliver it to her attackers.  This kid deserves many looks from college coaches, so I strongly encourage you to put her name down.  You will not regret it.  Please help us congratulate her on earning a Most Valuable Player award and a Top Performer award at the Expo. 

The starting setter for Waller high school, Keys is coming from a strong season, in which she tallied over 1,000 assists as a sophomore. She’s one of the top playmakers in Houston in her class and likes to run a very creative, free-flowing offense. Keys is great at moving her hitters around and thrives with her ball distribution, doing a solid job of picking the best options in every play. A technically sound player, she contributes on the backcourt too and is extremely crafty with her setter dumps, being capable of scoring in a variety of ways.

Keys did everything she could to give her hitters the best chance to score against a strong Cy Ranch team. The sophomore setter was very creative with her playmaking, moving hitters around and getting crafty with her distribution, even if at times it took a little bit from her precision. Keys was very steady during the match and did a good job of trying to find solutions to difficult situations. Starting in the second set, she became more aggressive with her setter dumps and showed a nice repertoire.
