Behind the Scenes of the 2027 Rank Update

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With this massive update, there is no other way than to dive right in. The class of 2027 has absolutely exploded in so many ways. Their physicality and consistency really stand out to me in the huge jumps this class has taken since the last update. Let's take a look at some of the numbers and behind-the-scenes details. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">This update was a long time coming.</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As with all of our updates, this 2027 rank update was a labor of love. The Wisconsin Prep Dig crew is consistently updating our notes and communicating with each other about athletes we have seen. Numerous athletes in the class of 2027 were noted as key athletes during our coverage of the high school season, including Abigaile Weidemayer, [player_tooltip player_id='564276' first='Lauren' last='Tisler'], and [player_tooltip player_id='485131' first='Lilliani' last='Big Eagle']. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">The State Tournament was loaded with Top 2027 Talent. </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There is talent across the state, and watching the top teams play at state showed just how deep that talent runs. There were numerous stand-out athletes in the class of 2027 as well, and seeing these young athletes step up in huge moments for their teams on the state's biggest stage was nothing short of incredible to watch. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p> Two of the top three ranked sophomores in the class, [player_tooltip player_id='459898' first='Aubrey' last='Frey'] and [player_tooltip player_id='435874' first='Addison' last='Kelenic'], faced off in the Division 2 State Championship. Kelenic earned All-Tournament Team honors and was All-State Honorable Mention. Frey was selected to 1st Team All-State. Both are incredible athletes. In Division 3, Barron's leading scorer was none other than lefty [player_tooltip player_id='565640' first='Alexis' last='Halverson']. And their libero, [player_tooltip player_id='590014' first='Abby' last='Miller'], was nearly unstoppable. Both were named All-Tournament Team, and Halverson was named 1st Team All-State. Division 4 had [player_tooltip player_id='510424' first='Ava' last='Stuebs'] and [player_tooltip player_id='549619' first='Brooke' last='Duveneck'] for Manitowoc Lutheran, both incredibly talented athletes. Stuebs was named All-Tournament Team and 1st Team All-State.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">We added huge numbers. </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We added 72 athletes to this rank and now have well over 100 athletes ranked in this class. We also added numerous athletes to the watchlist. So many players brought so much to their teams during nationals and the high school season. It was like going down a rabbit hole once we dove into notes, rosters, and rewatching film. Some athletes who really exploded onto my radar include [player_tooltip player_id='511138' first='Amelie' last='Pankonin'], who rocketed into our top 5; [player_tooltip player_id='487025' first='Nicalai' last='Eismann'], a springy 6 rotation athlete; and [player_tooltip player_id='724623' first='Brooke' last='Palmer'], who has a lot of speed. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">There is so much more to see.</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This upcoming season is huge for the class of 2027, and it will be an absolute blast to watch them compete throughout the club season. They will bring so much energy and fire to the court as they battle during tournaments. I can't wait for athletes to explode onto my radar and to see how club teams build chemistry as the season develops. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
