Sarah was able to do a little bit of everything for her team throughout the tournament. I saw her passing in serve receive, attacking from the outside, running the setter position, and playing at a high level defensively regardless of where she was in the back row. Sarah is the type of player who can fill just about any role her team needs, and at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her in a libero jersey at this rate. When she was setting, she showed good feel for the position, making smart decisions with the ball and doing a nice job putting her hitters in position to succeed. She was also electric with her swings, consistently putting a lot of pace behind the ball to beat blocks and defenders. When she wasn’t scoring points herself, she was creating opportunities for her teammates with her setting and all around play. Her versatility, athleticism, and ability to impact the game in so many different ways make her a valuable piece for her team and a day 2 standout as well.

Sarah did it all last week, she played defense, scored points, and ran a very high level offense. Through 2 games last week she average 3.2 kills a set, 2.3 digs per set, and 5.3 assists per set. She contributed in a lot of high level ways and offensively did so at a very high clip as well by killing the ball at almost 50%. Chaparral also went 2-0 during the week and Sarah was a big part of that.

Offensively, she’s averaging a solid .215 hitting percentage, showing that she’s not only a reliable setter but also a legitimate scoring threat at the net. She stays calm, focused, and smart in every phase of the game—making quick decisions, placing sets with precision, and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. In the back row, she’s equally impactful, contributing 50 digs so far this season.

Her court presence and leadership have been instrumental in Chaparral’s dominant season, and as the Firebirds push toward a potential 5A state title, Sarah will undoubtedly continue to be a driving force behind their success.
