We couldn’t pass on the opportunity to triple down on the 15 Open champs. Our last article visited a pair of Dynasty 15 Black gems, but VanNess deserves her own time in the spotlight. This freshman setter’s distribution and location are well beyond her years. VanNess is especially accurate on her back sets, allowing 15 Black’s opposites and sliding middle blockers to exploit attacking windows at the antenna. Of course, this Basehor-Linwood prep star also brings the athleticism and gun-slinging style you’d expect from a Dynasty setter. VanNess has helped turn 15 Black into a true GJNC title contender.

VanNess is an athlete I watched at the most recent Prep Dig Showcase in Kansas City. She is ranked No. 60 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. I watched some of her highlights from club action during the MLK Tournament. She is a long setter, which will make her appealing to college coaches. She moves well and takes control in high-pressure situations. Whether she did it alone or had help, her HUDL highlights are awesome. There is a cool graphic that makes it easier to follow her game. However, she had a highlight reel that was over four minutes long; she would be better served by breaking into multiple films or just picking the best of the best.

VanNess is another new prospect that I met on the Exposure Tour. She is a long setter with a ton of upside. She is well coached and was not intmidated playing with or against the elite talent on display last Sunday. The Bobcat prospect will be added to the Class of 2029 ranking after the New Year.
