2026 Club Team Preview: Iowa Rockets 16R

The goal is highlighting as many teams as possible before we get the season underway next month. Then we'll shift to scouting reports and roundups from real matches.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The preseason process works best when directors get us rosters or point us to where they're posted on line. If you did not receive one (sometimes our contact information is outdated), you can send them to RobHoweHN@gmail.com.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:separator --> <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" /> <!-- /wp:separator --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[program_tooltip program_id='431948' first='Iowa' last='Rockets'] 16R is a collection of members from the club's top 15U roster that finished a respectable 22nd among 36 teams in the USA Division at the 2025 USAV National Tournament in Dallas last summer. It's a squad that's grown up together and is capable of greater heights during the upcoming campaign.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The setting is in the excellent hands of Iowa City High's [player_tooltip player_id='730426' first='Hazel' last='Schluckebier']. As as sophomore this fall, she passed out 476 assists with 76 kills, 207 digs and 19.0 blocks. She's expanded her game and will help this team from the opposite pin if/when it chooses to go 6-2.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='891576' first='Julia' last='Settles'] showed she can handle the setter position as well, helping Pella reach the Class 4A state semifinals this season with 676 assists. The freshman added 218 digs, 31.0 blocks and 66 kills. She's played at the pins for this team in the past, and her versatility on the court will, once again, be a great value to it.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='730449' first='Kylee' last='Suhr'] can take over matches from the middle of the net. As a sophomore in 2025, she piled up 225 kills (.264) and 63.0 blocks in 82 sets. She added 94 digs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rockets 16R will feature a pair of Pleasant Valley sophomores that are on track to help the Spartan varsity next season after developing behind veteran players in 2025. [player_tooltip player_id='547963' first='Grace' last='Kremer'] was good on the right side for 15R last club year. [player_tooltip player_id='773976' first='Rachel' last='McCaulley'] can contribute in multiple areas.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='759979' first='Julianna' last='Montez'] is capable of playing setter or in the back row. She was in the back row for Muscatine this season, producing a team-best 270 digs with 75 assists illustrating his being able to set up teammates off of the two ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='760844' first='Maryn' last='Sherman'] was a much-improved player for Grinnell this past season. The sophomore ranked second among Tigers with 207 kills in 82 sets. Capable of playing effectively at either pin, she also came up with 115 digs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='805108' first='Charleigh' last='Whitford'] delivered through six rotations for 15R last season before developing on the Solon junior varsity this season. [player_tooltip player_id='922709' first='Alexa' last='Millius'] made progress on the Linn-Mar sophomore team during the 2025 prep year.
