I embraced my role as the "Nebraska outsider" at the Show Me Qualifier. This event was a perfect launching point for my escalating role on the Prep Dig Kansas site, which will soon manifest into regular coverage and rankings updates. I have plenty of learning to do until then, and Show Me was the spot to make it happen.

The Class of 2028 was a major scouting focus at the event, and we've already delved into some 16 Open standouts from the Heart of America Region. However, we've just scratched the surface of all the emerging stars we can cover from the Kansas City calamity.

Pin hitters get the nod for today's feature. Which players made a big first impression on this Nebraska visitor?

Admittedly, the Show Me Qualifier wasn't our first look at how dominant Maciel can be. I had the fortune of covering MAVS 16 Elite's 3-0 start at Triple Crown NIT, and Maciel immediately swiped the spotlight with her left-side termination. That trend played out again in the same venue two months later. 16 Elite leaned on Maciel's snappy arm and heavy heat to produce clutch sideouts in the 16 Open gauntlet. The Blue Springs sophomore delivered almost every time.

Here's another familiar name from my recent Kansas City travels. Ballard was an instant star at our most recent Kansas City showcase, where her effortless athleticism garnered our constant attention. She helped engineer Dynasty 16 Blue's 16 USA triumph at the Sunshine Classic, allowing the team to join the 16 Open fray at recent qualifiers. Ballard has responded to this jump by elevating her game on the left side and becoming a six-rotation game-changer. Her upward trajectory has only accelerated since that showcase visit.

Roscher brings a rare set of skills for a right-side hitter. Yes, she brings all the physicality, length, and firepower you'd expect from a go-to opposite. However, Roscher has also worked on her first contacts to become a regular part of Invasion 16-Black's serve-receive pattern. This allows Roscher to contribute to the success of Invasion's other outside attackers, as we saw in Kansas City's 16 USA race.

417 Missouri Jrs 16 Elite made huge strides in Kansas City, especially while Kubik imposed her well on the left antenna. The team entered Show Me with a 16 American bid but exhibited ample firepower in the 16 USA division. Kubik's cross-court hammer helped 16 Elite attain a four-match winning streak in Kansas City, and the team grew increasingly comfortable as the event progressed. That should bring Kubik back into the spotlight as 417 MO Jrs prepares for GJNC.

Let's visit one of Missouri's top-placing teams in the 16 Liberty division. STATC 16-1 earned a bid through its third-place finish in Kansas City, propelling Kineman up the hierarchy among Missouri's 2028s. The Kickapoo sophomore was a reliable scorer behind the setter and was more than comfortable on the left side in Rotation 1. Moreover, Kineman's positive block touches generated transition opportunities in STATC's closest, most dramatic contests. That clutch factor will pay dividends in Indianapolis.

This is one of the most unique athletes we've covered in a while. Williams is a lefty attacker, so she naturally brings a ton of experience as a right-side hitter. However, her positional designation with CNVKC Mizuno 16Mike is incredibly fluid. Williams has seen escalating reps at middle blocker--a rare distinction for a southpaw. 16Mike leveraged this versatility at Show Me en route to a 7-1 mark in the 16 Liberty division, elevating Williams' stock further. She scored from anywhere along the net and has redefined how we view left-handed terminators.

Sokoloski has added to the tremendous group of eye-popping pin hitters in the PVA gym. She lifted PVA 16 National to a 6-0 start in Kansas City with her indefensible range and outstanding court vision. This Olathe East athlete is particularly dangerous when given an attacking window down the line. She doesn't need a ton of daylight to find the floor, either. 16 National already had its Liberty bid before the Kansas City trip and logged so many valuable pre-Nationals reps in home territory.
