The Athena 17-1 libero is one of the top defenders in the state, and for good reason: Azavedo has insanely fast reflexes, great control, and reads the ball incredibly well. She is tough from the baseline, too, and brings a confident and calming presence whenever she is on the court.

Azavedo is one of the most consistent, quick, and controlled passers in the region, and her steadiness from the back row was on display during the showcase. On Saturday, Azavedo was killer from the baseline with her tough jump float serve. In defense, she flew around the court to pick up balls that very few other players would be able to get a hand on.

Azavedo is one of the top defensive players in the state, currently ranked as the #1 player in the defensive specialist position for the class of 2025. Azavedo anchored the Jesuit Crusaders’ back row last season to push her team toward their second-place finish, earning Metro First Team All-League and All-State 6A Honorable Mention honors as a result of her excellent play. Playing libero for the Athena 16-1 team, Azavedo continued to hone in on her quick reflexes on defense and steady and consistent serve receive game. Given how fast and skilled she is, it’s nearly impossible to get anything by Azavedo. She will undoubtedly be a top defensive player for Jesuit this fall.
