Jesse Etter | Prep Dig Scout
Azavedo won’t have to bring her serve to the all-star championships in Florida, libero’s are not allowed to serve under international rules. The Jesuit High School defender has a soft accurate touch when digging the ball, and can read and go get any type of tip or deflection that is thrown her way.

Azavedo has the special talent of making passing and defense look effortless. On Sunday, every movement she made was smooth and simple, and she made it look easy to dig hard-driven balls and tips. Azavedo is also incredibly quick on her feet and her passes are usually very controlled, which makes her all the more challenging to score against because she can pick up nearly anything. She will be one to watch over the next couple of seasons.

As just a sophomore, Azavedo impressively leads the 6A Metro League in digs this season, having tallied a total of 283 digs and an average of 3.6 digs per set so far. She’s also notched 68 aces and 286 successful passes on serve receive. Azavedo is an incredibly talented athlete: She’s quick to the ball, reads the ball well, and plays excellent coverage behind the Crusaders’ big hitters. It will be fun to see how Azavedo continues to grow as a player over the next couple of years.
