Gustafson’s rise was inevitable. She joined VCNebraska 17 Black this spring and boosted her stock considerably through several standout qualifier performances. This versatile outside attacker has flourished as a six-rotation asset in the VCNebraska gym and could bring the same influence to Lincoln Southwest this fall. The Silver Hawks have established a solid foothold at the top of the Class A race, and athletes like Gustafson will keep them there.

Gustafson has played some of her best volleyball this spring, even while adjusting to a new club environment at VCNebraska. She seamlessly transitioned to the 17 Black lineup and exhibited her positional versatility in 2025. We’ve known about Gustafson’s terminal ability on the right pin, but she has become a full-time left-side hitter in the VCNebraska gym. This has tremendously escalated Gustafson’s production and showcases her willingness to lock down the back row. A big senior campaign is on the way.

NLQ will offer opportunities to watch many athletes mesh with new clubs for the 2025 season. Gustafson is a prime example, and she’s building off an exceptional early showing with VCNebraska 17 Black at the Midwest Power League. Despite being new to the VCN gym, Gustafson lit up the scoreboard as a go-to left-side attacker. This is quite a development after Gustafson spent considerable time on the right pin to begin her club career. Her trajectory is pointing upward before this weekend’s trip to Minneapolis.

One more for the Class A crowd. We knew that Lincoln Southwest would need to replace several veteran attackers from last year’s championship squad, and that has yielded an opportunity for players like Gustafson to fill the void. This Nebraska ONE star is wielding her quick arm to produce 2.7 kills per set for LSW’s balanced offense. Gustafson also has a knack for producing quality block touches to set up her team in transition. Another tournament appearance seems likely for the Silver Hawks, and Gustafson will be ready.

Nebraska ONE enters the conversation with one of its most dynamic attackers in the 16s age group. Gustafson has been a major headliner with her willingness to flex between middle blocker and opposite for 16 Black. Her quickness and athleticism make Gustafson an ideal fit for any spot–as long as she’s getting plenty of attempts along the net. This year’s high school season will be fascinating for the Lincoln Southwest prospect.
